Wheee! 2 more lil maccies are mine!

only one's a 68k... but that's OK. I phoned my sister tonight, and had a natter on about her latest hassles with bryce, she's running it on a G4 that her work has loaned her - after getting past that, she asked if I wanted her old PPC - it's a 6300... from everything I hear a dog of a machine but it's the first mac I used regularly and introduced me to the OS, photoshop, XPress, Illustrator.. and I loved it!. The other is a Centris 610 - yay!. Apparently both machines are crashing left right n centre, so I'm guessing there's a HD problem. or my niece got to them - last machine I used of hers had mould growing on the glass of the monitor!.

Anyhows. Thats the definites, that are coming soon soon soon.

The next are a couple of machines sitting around at her work, which nobody is using. They're packed up ready to be dumped to the local garbage tip, but they haven't had the heart to send anyone to do it, as they're the machines the business started on...

2 Quadra 950's with 4Mb video cards!!! wooo!!!

keep dem fingers crossed for me :D

I think there's a law that states that you can only get one Quadra 950 for free. Three? No, ma'am, that's way over the top. We're going to have you arrested, extradited to the US and at least one of your offending 950's confiscated for testing...

But but ossifer... I... I didn't mean to have so many, I only started with one... you know how it is *sobs*... a little LC... then I had to do harder stuff... now it's a 950 a week, and I'm not getting any better...

AND I DON'T WANT TO!

uh . .. . maybe you should keep track of the total btu output of your mac-menagerie, maniac. . . . if it gets unreasonably hot in your flat, you might want to consider storing some of your larger boxes offsite *waaaay offsite! (offshore!)*

Yes.. yes that would be only environmentally sensible to do such a thing. Now, to balance out the effects of all the heat I'm generating here, I should send the other quadras right to the opposite side of the world...

Now as far as I can tell, the "exact opposite of the world" from me is somewhere northeastern USA. Would that make sense?

coincidentally, that does just happen to be the case! cine's revisionist cartography aside, if we plot long's/lat's the reciprocal location falls somewhere just a tad north of manhattan!

imagine that!

I am but a concerned citizen..

...oofo! mmpff... what are you doing... with... this bag over my head... where did my quadras go!...

Off this off topic post now... *grin*... Do we have a list of 68k-machines-that-are-must-haves? Obviously 840av's are in there... any others?

(apart from "mac 128k through to PB190's and all inbetween" :D)

hmm...PowerBook 550c, Colo(u)r Classic II, *thinks* Macintosh TV I guess...but those would be on the ultra-rare never-gonna-get-one list

the ones that aren't that rare that should be staples in everyone's collection (imho):
Plus
SE/30
Color Classic
Q605

hmm...can't think of any others...help?

I was thinking along the lines of a plus/512/128, a CC/CCII, a Q950, Q840AV and a 540c (550c would do instead :D).

hrm. there's lots others I could put in there.

I suppose it's a silly idea in terms of what-we-should-have, but perhaps better suited to the list of ranking-68k's-in-order, for any newbietypes who may come across an 840av and a Classic II for the same price, but can only afford one... help out that situation :D

it's hard to make those kind of lists because (for me) it always turns into a never-in-a-million-years list...

that's why by above list is so short

Yes! empty nubus slots is like being naked in public - it's just not on unless you're at a nudist beach... and who takes their 950 to a nudist beach?

I'll have to see just what happens with the 950's. I was supposed to phone my sister tonight but kind of slept all evening until 1am!

or perhaps another 950 had a lot of cards, but the cards were sold from the other one, and yours donated its covers for the other 950 that you missed out on, that had cards in it you also missed out on

nice cover story, dana, more likely they stripped every last card they had and put 'em in the third one that you just happened to luck into.

get what i'm saying!
