Yes I'm a sellout - I use Omniweb on OSX, on my imaclet. (although it's also doing a good job of internet sharing to the Quadras on the network :D dana

I've also sold out. I use OmniWeb 4.1 public beta on my Mac OS X 10.1.2 400 MHz iMac DV Special Edition. If I had broadband then I would definitely surf the web on my 650...but its 33.6k modem is too slow to really get anything done. -------------------- FireWire is fast General, 4 star beholder of the Quadra/Centris Stick of Justice™ |

that's -exactly- mine :D. Omniweb might not be the best featured, but I live for font rendering that nice! quote:

Telstra Cable on a 6100/60. Fat pipe + puny faucet = sloooooooow internet.Still working on getting the Q800 (now running A/UX) plugged in but, typically, there's no 68K launchpad client available. I did find a POSIX compliant client written by a third party for Linux, but don't have the skills or knowledge to know whether this would work on the Quadra, or indeed how to compile or install it (yes, I'm a CUI... complete Unix ignoramus). Suggestions welcome folks. Later Current score: 1 Apple //e 1 Quadra 800 1 Powermac 6100

I use Netscape 4.51 on a 250mhz Wallstreet most of the time. Microsoft can take my web browser when they pull it out of my cold dead fingers. I have a special version of Netscape that I hacked the agent info in with resedit to use when I want to view a site that doesn't allow Macs, I changed it so that it says I am running CP/M 2.1 on a Kaypro 2X.AnubisTTP 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Macs Liberated:15 |

Does it actually work? To browse the forums, I normally use my dear Fides (Pismo/400), running Mac OS X 10.1.2. My browser of choice is the OmniWeb 4.1 sneaky peek. (Why does that qualify as selling out? At least I don't use a Windows machine... except when I'm on portering duty and I use the one in the office, as I'm doing now. That doesn't count, because that's not my machine. I'm just using it because there's no Mac here.) My Internet connection is Bell Sympatico HSE, which is a megabit-down ADSL line using PPPoE authentication. (And if anyone knows of a PPPoE client for a 68k machine, I will love him/her/it forever!) I think we solved my bad grammar, I get major lag on my 610 with Netscape 4 open, AIM, and IRCLE, I have lag and i also have over 10 AIM windows open so I have no time to reread my posts because I have to respond to all these IM's and fix them. I think that I am the only one in the entire army who relies completly on a 68k mac, wow I am special But ne hoo GORDOOM I have Pacbell ADSL and I use something called Ethernet 300, although it was recently cut off from the pacbell support longin app thingy list it works and they say with will forever! But I do image that It will also work for you, it uses PPPoE, it is said to use only on PPC's but I never listen to Big Brother and It worked, just like Mac OS X (jk!) I can send you the installer or copy the cd and send to you but im not sure when I could get my hands on a CDR drive, but I can send a copy on the installer to you through email or put on the 68k hotline server so tell me and I can later.Jeremy "I'll see you on the Dark Side Of The Moon" - Pink Floyd Covert Ops 68k File Server General 68k Macs Liberated:16 Edited by - TiMacLover on 18 Feb 2002 04:25:19 |

Yeah the hacked browser works more or less, the only problem is that it screws up the rendering of sites that need to know what browser you are using to render properly. The agent information is stored in STR# resourse 210. All you have to do is make a copy of the Netscape application and change the strings with Resedit.AnubisTTP 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Macs Liberated:15 |

EnterNet works on a 68k box? Sweet! (Bell Sympatico's "Access Manager" client is just a branded version of Enternet, so that's perfect! Or if they've taken and stripped out the fat binary code and left it PPC-only, I"ll leech the full version from the Hotline server.) 90% of the time it's the HP Vectra VE running Win98 here at work over a T1. Yeah, I know, but what can I do. That's where I am for 43 hours a week so it's my main free time. Otherwise, I surf the forums at home either on my 7500 or my Quadra 840av over 1.5Mbps Roadrunner cable.666th poster to the 68K Macintosh Liberation Army Forums Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Visit my site! |

Dell Inspiron 8000 Laptop, PIII 700 running XP Pro, IE6. My internet connection is thru Rogers cable. When I get my mac network set up at home, more often through my Mac LC and Color Classic on a shared internet connection (486 box running ICS).

That has officially surpassed "WinBook" (hmm, I wonder what OS comes on them...) as the funny computer name.

iMac DV SE 400, with NS 4.7.x as the primary browser in OS 9.In OS X, I usually find myself using IE 5, but only because NS 6 seems unstable and OmniWeb does not yet fully support some things. |

Time to eat the old stetson. All this time assuming that the published Telstra minimum system requirements were to be trusted. Silly, silly me. It turns out launchpad is FAT. YAY! So now the 6100's been scavenged for every useful component and is sitting in a corner looking forlorn, while the Q800 has assumed its rightful place as my main internet love stick. i had started calling it that here a week or two ago, i thought you might have seen it somewhere else also. i'm sure there are lots of people calling it that, i just haven't run across it yet, or i did and and forgot just enough to think i was being original. it was interesting to see it in sombody else's post. i like your take on it too. jt
