I'll make this brief

If I replace the 'LC040 on my Quadra 605 with a full '040, will I need a heatsink?

That's gotta be a record for brevity...

And I'll reply with a lot of waffle...

"probably not" :D

adding the full 040 does warm it some more - no more than overclocking does, and I run a few of the same overclocked with no heatsinks, and they're happy.

Overclocking AND adding an FPU 040 though - yes, definitely heatsink that. it's burny!

I agree with everyone here. A full '040 does not put out much more heat than the original processor, and therefore a heatsink is not required.
