I am working on a LC 575 that has a burnt out cd-rom. Is there anyway to replace the internal? Does anyone know where to get another internal if I can replace it? I was think of replacing it with an old external, could I possibly put it inside the LC? The external is one of Apple's old 4X drives. It is slower than the current 8X but the speed is no problem. Thanks for your time.

do it, the adapters you need are on the internal now. just make sure you don't have an id conflict when you power up the first time.

eBay is a great place for scsi cd drives I got a 300i for like $3 on there and it works great, Id go with a external one cause its nice to have if you get a mac that cnat hold a cd, or you get a powerbook, those go for soo cheap also like $3-$5 on eBay and well worth it.
