Where can I obtain copies of HyperCard 2.3 and Mac OS 8.1? I've been searching left and right and can find neither anywhere.

Can someone point me the right way?

Both these products are commercial and copyrighted, so it's general policy not to say on the boards where to get such items. However, eBay usually has OS 8 CD's and Floppies on sale quite cheap, this is a good way to obtain the software.

Even though Apple should give these away, Apple is notorious for keeping a tight grip on old software that is outdated, useless and no longer competitive.

Anyways, watch a few of the threads made by users here and look at thier signatures and I'm sure you will find what your looking for.

Apple sells HC 2.4 for $79, and I believe there's a way that you can purchase 8.1 from them as well.

Is this for a PowerPC or a 68k mac? (Because I'm not actually sure what HyperCard 2.4 needs in order to run)

I would also suggest that you keep a eye out at your local used bookstores.

Used bookstores are magnets for cool old software, I once got like, At Ease 1.0, and I almost got the Japanese Language Kit, and German Windows 3.1, and swahili Windows 95 or something...

Nearly all "new" enough in the box, shrinkwrapped to say the least...

Apple still sells older Mac OS versions from 7.6 to 9.1 for anywhere bteween 99US to 199 Dollars depending on version. With the new license scheme if you purchase Mac OS X you can "downgrade" and be eligble for a legally licensed version of older Mac OS CD's.

Humm… How do you do that?

Cause… I'd like to get a retail type copy of 8.6 [we bought both Panther and Jaguar…]

If I open my window all the bugs will get in…That's just one more reason to use a Mac!
