Is it just me or does the board seem dead like everyone is dead along with it?

Seems not much is going on, like in Macintosh land we are living in a depression. Understandable in a sense...we need more thought provoking information, more unique things to do with 68k's, new ideas, new hacks, new this new that.

We need new blood. :) Anyone willing to pop a vein for the MLA?

Don't forget holiday craziness too!

Family and relatives, sadly, get in the way of mac-ing. Money also dips low, hence less crazy shtuff.

Its gonna be slow around here through january IMO, february usually kicks it back up.

Recently I've been too busy to actually start threads... Actually the last thread I started is probably months old... I have enough time in the day to open up Safari click active topics and maybe reply to a couple of threads then run off again...

And the forums are down so much and there's so much other things that need to be done!!!

I don't think that the current world of macintoshes are in a depression though.... just look at the G5, the current lineup of iMacs, g4 'books and the eMacs... even the PowerMac G4s, they are a popular line of fantastic computer. Just the other day at school, here in Kingman, AZ, I had several people complement me on my 'book G4. (Which means, that at least there are people who know about apple and it's products, even if they haven't bought one/some/any yet...)

No, I'm not willing to pop a vein for the MLA. The moment that it becomes compulsory, or even 'highly suggested' that I give blood to the internet, is the moment that I'm leaving

Yeah, february is a good month That's when me birthday is, so there *should* be many threads maybe

Yeah, starting threads takes m ore time than just replying in a hot topics listbox, so it would seem as though many people are doing that

Lately life has been a bit too busy with work and getting sucked into time sink that is slashdot.org. I've only done a couple of 68k things lately. First, and thanks to sheygoth, I figured out how to boot my 190cs from a PCMCIA/Compact Flash card. Now I can run the powerbook in silent mode. Second, I have been trying (in vain) to install an 800 MB IDE HD into an Outbound Notebook, but that's a subject of another thread once I get some more time to work on it.

Even if this forum is a little quiet at times. 68ks live on!

Hey everyone, I have been gone for a while too, just a lot going on. Everything seems to be going downhill for me right now; sometimes I wish I was dead. I don't really care to elaborate.

My 68k projects include getting Debian Linux working on my 605, A/UX on my q700, and finally building my homemade 400 watt UPS that seemed to work fine in the prototype stage. I just need a couple DPDT 12vdc relays and all is good.

Is the hotline server still working alright? My cable service has had a few issues over the past couple weeks.

I try to check the forum every day, that is if it's up. I did start a topic about beige G3's and another in the trading post for a beige G3 MT case, but nobody seems to be replying to it.

Speaking of popping a vein...

I gave blood for the first time on Friday, and boy was it an experance. After the paperwork, I sat down and they got me already, and the nurse tried to find a vein in my right arm. She couldn't seem to find on so she switched arms. Then after she gets the needle in she finds out that my vein has "vanished". So she pulls out the needle and goes back to the other arm. She then finds a vein and I sit for six minutes watching the blood drain from my body. Kind of a unerving experance. I didn't faint or even feel wierd after wards. I could have probably left the room and done sprints or something.

It was kinda cool cause the kid next to me feinted. He was just laying there like he was dead or something. Then when they woke him up he grinned and said, "wow that was cool." It overall wasn't a bad experance because I don't mind needles.

Anyways just thought I would share...

I have low blood pressure so anything like that I have to lie down or I black out. I once blacked out 3 times in about a matter of 10 minutes when trying to have a test done sitting up.

It's that eerie feeling when you feel buzzed and blood rushes to your head and you know you are going to black out but you can't do nothing but experience it one second at a time, each second feeling like an hour.

I hope this place isn't dead. I just got here!

If you're looking for new blood, then I might fit the bill. I've got more than a few older Macs myself (check the sig) as well as a few that I gave to other friends and family.

I am always interested in new develpments in the 68K world, as well as resources for older software.

One of the reasons why I found the 68KMLA is because of Mark White and his MP3 player, MpegDec. I had been using my Powerbook Duo 280c on the road, and had been compressing music into the AIFF format (IMA, mono, 22KHz) for use on the Duo. For some reason, I decided to search the web again for a 68K Mac MP3 player - and I found one!

So I contacted Mark White, the developer, and got his permission to make a web site for MpegDec. This way more folks will be able to find it on the web. I also did some beta testing for the project. So here's that site, if anyone is interested in that.

I also found iCab online. I had been shut out of alot of web sites that now use the newer style of security features. Now I can access them again. iCab is great for customizing, too. I can hardly wait for version 3 to arrive. Some sites just don't work well with 2.9.6.

Well, I digress.

If you want fast browsing, use CyberDog. CyberDog is the Safari of Classic..it's fast even on forum software like phpBB2. It may not render all sites that great, especially ones that use alot of Java etc, but for most sites that you wil be going to, it fits the bill perfectly.

I found iCab to be somewhat slow even on my PowerMac....loading some sites it took forever.

lol, the forum isn't dead, but *cough* I am... *cough*

(I'm bouncing back though...)

I can't say that I actively use a 68k, but I will admit that I find Internet Explorer 4.0 to be a good 68k browser, 'specially on an 040 mac. I know that it's what I've been using on my older macs.

I'm typing this on me GHz TiBook with some version of safari, a machine from 2002.

I once think that I tried to make CyberDog 2.0 install on either my 7300 or my 6500 from the original discs, and i couldn't very well make it go that easily... :-\

Quite sad really... maybe I'll download it one day...
