Here's an idea. Those of us with compact macs, and other machines where date of manufacture are determinable, and if not, just using the date of purchase can list the date of manufacture/purchase here, and we can celebrate the machines' birthdays :-)

To Find your System's date of manufacture:
If it's a compact mac (128,512,Plus,SE,SE/30,Classic, etc.), carefully remove the cover, and look inside. On my SE, there was a sticker on the drive holder unit that said "26 SEP 1988." As for some AIO macs (LC-580), if you remove the front drive bezel, you will see a date code stamped on, like OCT 1995. If not, read the 'clocks' cast into the plastic. These will be close enough due to the rate at which these macs were produced.

Just thought it might be cool.

I know that my iMac is august 29th 1998 (I think anyway, I know that it's in august, but it's been so long since I've seen the iMac )

We also know that ML5 has a 68k bDay coming up soon too

Cute.

68k mobos generally have a date stamp on them too.

Cheers!

heh, there's also ways to tell the date manufactured of newer macs by the serial number. Also, where it was made.

i believe that we said my tibookw as made in the netherlands, in like, november of 2002 (I'll have to figure it out again though)

Nice. I know for a fact that my LCIII was built in September '93, but seeing as though we purchased her the Saturday before Christmas Day in '93, her real birthday is in a week. :D Thankfully, for those who have Macs built from...say....1990 to 1997, its pretty easy to determine when it was built, as a lot of them have "Manufactured Whatever month 199x" on the bar code sticker with the serial number, which is often found either on the back or underneath the machine. The only way around this is if the case part with the sticker on it has been changed...THEN it gets tricky.
