I'm looking for a battery-powered, portable device that will record uncompressed, CD-quality (44.1 KHz, 16-bit stereo) audio from a microphone (either XLR or 1/8" stereo in). It has to have some way to digitally connect it to a Mac, either through S/PDIF digital out or by a USB or FireWire connection.I'm looking for something other than a DAT deck. If someone made a digital audio jukebox that would record to AIFF or WAV from an input source, that would be perfect, as would a portable MiniDisc player with an S/PDIF out. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Check out Marantz - I normally don't like their gear but I found an excellent minidisc recorder (can't remember the model number right now) which I purchased for an ENG kit. It has XLR + RCA inputs, various switches on top for gain, EQ roll-off, limiter...etc And it has line + digital outputs. The unit is about the size of a (closed) PowerBook 500 series and can be slung over your shoulder.- - - - - - - - - - - - - Early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese. 68k ParaMedic |
