This is the best place I could think of to ask this.I am looking for a way to arrange my icons a certain way, all the time, on my desktop. There will not be a changing number, nor changing names. However, I am stumped on how to do this. I could have sworn there was a way in OS 9, but I cannot remember for the life of me. Help anyone? TIA ~The Penguin **| Want free 68kmla email? AppleScript? [at school the stupid people keep moving all the icons on the CG G4, so a short little Apple Script works well]If I open my window all the bugs will get in…That's just one more reason to use a Mac! In OS X, in the menu bar go to "View".."View Options".In Classic open up Preferences for the Finder. (Edit..Preferences?) Both have options for arranging all icons and windows a certian way.

I imagine there would be some program out there that would do this, like for PC there is PowerStrip, but desktop icon arrangement is not the main feature. It could be difficult to find.Derekcat - would you mind posting more details on this interesting little script? for classic there's another option: an app called RestoreDesktop. it saves the position of your icons.

I just put the icons where I want them, and they usually stay put I remember, in OS9, I would always use "snap to grid" Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide Editor of the MLAgazine "I'm just a normal computer geek who somehow landed a social life" |

it works for all the regular icons, just moving them, but hard drives don't like that so much. They always go to a vertical column on the right, and that isnt aesthetically pleasing to me I know its a lil pain in the butt thing, but it would keep my organization and ease of use so much better in line.~The Penguin **| Want free 68kmla email?
