Yep, I just migrated from OS 9.1 to Server 1.2.

I must say it's a nice system. It's a whole new game to figure things out but that's how anything usefull is. I had a tough time getting the system to work untill I realized Mac OS is more lenient with SCSi devices, since one drive was not terminated and I didn't have the proper pins for it. But I was very thankfull that I remembered my Quadra 950 had a special 50-Pin SCSi terminator on it. Plug that in on the end of the chain and voila! It boots and is happy.

I found extra packages from Tenon System for iTools version 5 which runs on Server 1.2 which provides http software along with php3 and php4, along with WebObjects and other cool files.

All in all I found some very nice pages regarding Server 1.2, and once I'm done the learning curve, I should have a very stable server. The one nice advantage is that I can always recompile software if I need something extra. That always helps.

You've made the move! from Classic to UNIX!

I must say, that *nix servers are overall, extremely pleasing to work with, especially my installation of Mandrake Linux 8.2, and most Mac OS Xs I've worked with.

I halfway hope that I'll be able to try it all out on the 7300 too! (OSX server 1.x)

Good luck with your learning curve! I know that it's something that's hard to do sometimes, but once you get that over with, it is very worth having done it, because you know that you can do nearly anything. (well, for me it was a real confidence-booster anyway)

Cool sounds awesome. I have a copy of Server 1.2 that I got for free from Small Dog about a year ago. I also got the Web Object and NetBoot server discs. Give me shout if you need them. Though I really need to get some VRAM for the 8600 so that I can play with it.

Yeah, I'm still awaiting my copy from tBoJ I'm going to play around with it on the 7300, who knows, maybe it'll be the first recorded occurrence of there being 2 IW's operational simultaneously

(I also need to start uploading some stuff for tBoJ, but that'll be on another day )
