24 Jan 2004- Twenty years ago our beloved Macintosh was released onto the world.

14 Mar 2004- Ten years ago the first PowerPC based Macs were introduced. This signaled an end of an era as the Macintosh moved to Power platform.

I would like for us to do something in honor of these dates. I know that this is kind of early but I figured some lead time would be good. In-order to have some time to do some brain storming.

My self I plan on viewing the Apple ad from the 84 Superbowl during the 04 Superbowl.

If, on Jan 24th, we all booted up all our 68k machines and went to a particular website, then we could fool the site's server statistics into thinking that 68k machines were dominant on the internet again.

I'm game. ;-)

I'll even fire up my BlueBox to add to the flavour.

GREAT IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!! As for 24/1/84, I was thinking of viewing the SuperBowl ad, and playing around with my Macintosh for a while.

I will do what I do every day - use my iMac and enjoy it's lucious beauty

Apart from that Imight fire up my Mac Plus (the nearest thing I have to a 128) and my 840av (the pinicle of 68k engineering) and take pictures of them with my Quicktake camera. It's funny to think the Mac has been going 20 years. It's been a long and sometimes winding road with a few decisiv forks and dead ends and stuff but I guess it's worked out pretty well.
I think we ought to have a 20th Anniversary iMac in black with gold writing and badges

And my IIsi isn't unpacked

It's a good idea though

Maybe I'll have to get the PowerPlayer 100 finished, so that in 2004, I can enjoy 16-bit goodness (or were the originals (000 proc) 8bit?) computing goodness

/me imagines a compare and contrast between the PowerPlayer 100, and a G5...

8 bit vs. 64bit
6 mb ram, vs. 8 gb of ram.
20 mb hdd vs. .5 tb hdd
10bt ethernet vs. gigabit ethernet + 802.11g
SuperDrive external floppy vs. SuperDrive internal DVDR

(so that's what i'm doing in january then?)

In March, I'll have to have a looksee at the 7300 for PowerPC ness
