Well b4 we go any further I need to say that in my sounds when I get an error instead of a quacking duck I now have Rachel Wiesz saying "Those knickers are not mine" , which I recorded from the film The Mummy(or The Mummy Returns).

Well I have successfully networked my 840av with my xp box.

I can share drives & folders, unfortunatley it dosn't seem like i can share internet access, unfortunate as this is the component missing on the pc! So although I downloaded service pack 1, I can't use it because half way through installing it it tries to connect to the internet!!!!!

I cant connect to the internet cos my pc is broken, I cant fix my pc because I can't connect to the internet!

Well I have XP proffessional on it's way, has taken three weeks from tommorow morning!(time now is 11:06pm). I am hoping that installing XP Pro will fix the problem.

But I am so cocka-hoop, at managing to network both computers, & may buy PC-Maclan, though I've heard it's very expensive.

Congratulations on the networking!

Good luck on solving your chicken-and-egg XP-internet-XP problem.

Are you trying to share Internet from XP or from your 840av?

Well my 840av accesses th internet & I am using it now!, so my 840av is the internet machine.

Well, I have problems with PC Maclan;

What happened was that it wouldn't allow me to install it, but it had browse this cd, well it isn't a cd, cos it is all copied onto the hard drive, but nonetheless, I browsed & then I found "install PCMaclan on Win 2000" well I think XP is 200 though I'm not sure so I installed it, it worked although I lost the use of my taskbar on my pc & then my pc kept not working even more than it was not working & then I restarted my pc & it said that I have been a really naughty boy tryin to use a mac'an'all & that I wasn't allowed to have fun with my pc as such it has banned me from using PCMaclan, now it won't run

but hey it was absoulutley bloody fantastic while it did actually run &.......

I installed Norman virus killer on my pc, it failed to detect or kill any viri, avg did the trick & nicely too, so I tried to get rid of Norman, but no it wouldn't let me delete it, but when i networked xp &840av I used 840av to delete Norman!!!!!!

Success of sorts lol

 Well it sounds like you got everything working except the Internet on the PC. Well, in order to do that, you'll probably need to pick up Apple SoftRouter or whatever it's called. I've forgotten already, but that will do the trick. If you're using cable or DSL, it will probably have to be dual-honed. I've never done this on a Mac before, but it's going to be much the same as on a PC.

 As for the PC-MacLan, the readme.txt files will say weather it's compatable with XP, which it's probably not since you had all those problems. Make sure you're running Service Pack 1 on the XP. Then find a copy of PC-MacLan that's compatible with it.
