So my pc is being arsey about using the internet, a similar thing happened to me once before & I asked for help & somebody posted with a dns number that when you enter it it makes the computer search for the right dns number.

I hope I have got that right.

Anybody know what this number may be?

Well.... it's a number you can get from your ISP. Either by phoning tech support, or by trawling the support section of your ISP's web site. You *could* use 203.2.193.124 but it is a DNS server on this side of the world (Ozemail as a matter of fact), but it is better if you use your ISP's coz it's closer (literally) to your computer.

Bloody PC's! Stay with your trusty 840 is what i reckon

What OS are you running on the PC, and what exactly are the symptoms?

Yes I am staying with my 840av, I will just swap the processor 68040 for the Motorola 684000 yes giving me a 4Ghz machine! Upgrade the memory to 10 Gb! put my nubus to USB card.

well my pc is win xp home, i got a virus, i got rid of the virus, i surfed the net, i switched off, i switched back on & now it wont "use" the internet, when I try to connect it says it is connected, but no programs ie:- IE, Mozzilla, Opera, Mirc, Yahoo im, AIM can connect to use the internet.

hmmm... can you ping anything from the command line? (to open the command prompt: select 'run' from the Start menu then type 'cmd' into the little box. Then type 'ping 210.xxx.xxx.xxx' or 'ping www.apple.com'...etc) If you can ping then it's just something screwy with your browser connection settings (so play around in the preferences till it works) If pinging doesn't work.....well i'd start by deleting all existing dial up connections and creating a new one from scratch.
