In other news, President George W. Bush as extended the Axis of Evil to include the Sun. "This supposed ally has been flexing its nucular muscles without U.N. oversight for generations. While small infractions can be overlooked, a direct strike at the Allies. will not be ignored.

Yep, gotta love bein showered by protons

Speaking of subatomic particles, anyone else worried about Besse? FENOC should be considered a terrorist organization. I have respect for nuclear energy and all, but FirstEnergy is stupid.

Hey there, just decided to check this place out for the first time in ages... last night was pretty freakin' awesome here in northwest Indiana! About 9:00pm a car load of us meteorology majors (yes, we're nerds!) drove south in search of clear skies to see if we could see the aurora! We drove an hour or so, and stopped somewhere outside of Demotte. We saw it for about 15 mins - it was not too bright, just enough you could see it, and it was green. At least we got to see it! It was really cool, but we had some freaky moments being out in the middle of nowhere, indiana. There was an old station wagon that drove by us really slowly, and it reminded us all of the station wagon in the movie Halloween. Then we heard another sort of loud v8-powered vehicle coming back down the road the other way, and were like, is that the wagon again? it was just a chevy pickup truck and the guy asks if we're all right and we're like we're fine, we're just watching the aurora. he takes a look for a few seconds wondering what we're looking at and drives off... by this time some more clouds moved in and we headed back since we couldn't see anything. So we came back here and I watched satellite for a while, and it cleared up again, andthen I headed back out towards Kouts to see if I could see it again. I was out for about an hour, but did not see any aurora action, and I was ready to call it a night, as it was after 2am. Still though, an awesome night! Hope it stays clear long enough here tonight so I can see it again!

So that would put you in Hebron?

Up here by the lake we get clouds and rain all the time this time of the year, so I still haven't seen the aurora. If it was green that far south, I couldn't imagine what it would have been like if there was no clouds. Something about the air being colder than the lake makes lots of lake effect weather.

Hebron's close... actually I left from Valparaiso and was down in that neck of the woods... I can't exactly remember the way we went down south from here, we just drove south on any road till we got to where there was clearing.
Last night some of my friends went up towards the Dunes (I couldn't go - had stuff going on) but nothing happened, at least when they were out.
Lake-effect weather... yes, that happens around here quite often especially when we get strong warm or cold advection. What we have right now is a frontal boundary that's more or less sitting right around our area, and it is not moving fast. It's sunk down south today, but models are progging it to come back north, putting us back in the 60s here for sunday. Not bad for the first of November!
