neato! *oops*this is not really on topic, but it would be nice if clicking on the name of the last poster on the main page linked to the thread, not the poster's profile. maybe at least disable the profile link and add a button linking to the thread. this dinosaur just can't seem to get the hang of, or understand the reason for that particular "feature" in the user interface. there are already beaucoup links to the profiles, seems unnecessarily confusing if not counterintuitive in this particular application, IMHO, of course. jt

I'll give you something to do this weekend (i'm the website guy). I'm going to re-do the index page and work on some of the pages that are up/modifty and upload coxy's pages. Next i week need to do "the liberated" (our spec sheets). This is where you come in. Basically I'll make a template and you can just plug in links and liberator's notes...i'll tell you more at a later datehappy? -------------------- FireWire is fast General, 4 star beholder of the Quadra/Centris Stick of Justice™ |

yo, fw, i just <bump>ed *ohmigodigottagetthis **** under control!* into a "flood control" dialog over at MAF, would a filter/script/whatchamacallit-checker for postings within the previous xx seconds get this forum into rehab for its substance abuse problem? I think their code just prevented me from a making a slow-system-response induced double posting booboo. elegant! dunno, seemed like a good thing to mention. jt

OK. as for a site - what do we need?. There's already a lot of good information out there regarding the technical side of 68k's - specifically www.macfaq.org, www.lowendmac.com and www.jagshouse.com, and home.earthlink.com/~gamba/ - they're my main 68k info sites. Trash80 mentioned the troubleshooting-page that should be photocopied and stuck to every mac :). Linking to those in a coherent way would make sense... What could we add to the 68k world?. We have info about rescuing macs, as we're not in this to find one cheap machine to do certain works, we're here for them ALL. several of each, even *grin*. Thats something to expand on I suppose. dana

As there are many other 68k sites with libraries of info, I would like to see very unique stuff for our site. Such as:Personal pics/stories about the daily use/colorful aquirements of the soldier's macs. Highly detailed and specific walk-throughs of various functions (especially with pics!) A good write up on MpegDec 2.0 and it's implications is definitely needed. 666th poster to the 68K Macintosh Liberation Army Forums Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Visit my site!

Like say... getting a very fast raid in... perhaps an 840av, or something similar? :D good idea. I liked Flash's warehouse of macs photos - it'd be fantastic to see/hear about some of the more legendary things like that dana

Heh heh...I am working on pics of the Quadra's new RAID internals, and that close-up lens that Marchie has would help, otherwise I have to drag the Video-8 camcorder out of the closet and use the macro lens and 7500's vid-capture.666th poster to the 68K Macintosh Liberation Army Forums Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Visit my site! |

I was just playin' with the eyemodule this morning, I'll send you some pics. Got great results from just holding video wide angle adapter in front of lens and I got appreciably closer focus with reading glasses lens for close-mode, haven't found my real closeup (filters) lens set yet. jt

IMHO, you should put up short, concise spec sheets up first, and then write up notes on a separate page with " Notes from the Front" or somthing like that, more detailed descriptions of tricks/software/specific ratings of models (on a scale of 1-10). Kind of like Low End Mac, but more organized.Wonko The Sane Engineer-in-training 3 Macs Liberated "You can't possibly be a scientist if you mind people thinking that you're a fool."- Wonko The Sane |

Our original plan was to have every single spec aspect of every single 68k, but then we realized that it would be repetitve and a waste of time seeing as how at least 5 other sites have done the same thing. Therefore what we are going to do is have a page for every model, but instead of wasting time having specs, we will have links which lead to other site's spec pages for that model. Of course there will be some liberator's notes too... -------------------- FireWire is fast General, 4 star beholder of the Quadra/Centris Stick of Justice™ |
