I've got a Performa 6214CD with the tv tuner and video in option. Can someone tell me what the max. amount of videomemory is what i can install ? If i hook up a 460x600 Apple monitor I can use the Apple Video Player bu when I hook up a 800x600 monitor i can't.Bert Total 68K Macs liberated 3 Quadra 610, HD 535MB, Mem. 32MB, OS 8.1

That unit has 1MB of Video Memory, and it's not expandable. You should be able to drive a monitor with resolution up to 1152x864 -- but only with 256 colors. If Apple Video Player requires thousands of colors as its color depth setting, then you can drive a monitor with a resolution up to 800x600. If you need millions of colors, then the max is 640x480.Matt No rank Current king of my 68k realm:

Actually, no, tmtomh. Unfortunately, the "Valkyrie" video chip used in these machines is rather crippled, and therefore, the 1 meg of VRAM is not a full 1 meg. What you have, allows for 16 bit (Thousands) colour at 640x480, and 8 bit (256) colour at 800x600. If you're using Apple Video Player, i'd reccommend keeping it at 640x480...that seems to work bets on my LC630, which uses the same video chip."**** em" - Jobs in regards to customers

IIRC, it should also work at 832 x 624 x 8 bit. However, the maximum AVP window size is still only a pixel doubled 640 x 480 (320 x 240 actual resolution) and it looks much better in borderless full screen mode at 640 x 480 x 16 bit than as a small window on an 832 x 624 desktop.jt  ™.

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=112333Maybe not so correct? http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=112333 The 630/5260 hybrid I use in the VideoRack doesn't offer 16" for some unknown reason, but the upper one of the two choices of 800 x 600 (probably the slower one, the control panel doesn't show the rates) will run AVP in a 640 x 480 window.
