I just got a 47gb scsi drive (thanks to BCA for the location, as well as jumper help), but I now cannot get it formatted. Drive setup does not see it, and FWB Hard disk toolkit says the drive is "not ready"

Any ideas?

Hmm. If FWB is right and the drive really isn't ready, it might have its wait_spin jumper enabled. This jumper is used in many PC-based setups -- the drive doesn't spin up until the computer sends it a signal to do so. Macs don't work that way, so a drive with that jumper enabled just won't spin up at all, and therefore won't be detectable or "ready."

Or perhaps the drive could be overloading your power supply?

That's all I can think of. Good luck.

Best,
Matt

Humm… I had two HDs that gave me that… maybe I should try that jumper thing on them too… [I though they were dead/messed up or something; but one of them used to work…]

If I open my window all the bugs will get in…That's just one more reason to use a Mac!

The wait spin jumper was already removed, and this thing is getting enough power, I can obviously tell it is spinning up via the airplane-ish noise it makes (drive weighs 7 pounds, big freaking drive)
Thanks though.
