Yes, it's true... my PB140's HDD appears to have failed. When I turn it on it sits at the happy mac for about half an hour and then switches to a ? floppy. The HDD is then giving me something that sounds alot like the iomega Click-of-Death. Might there be any other solution? BTW... is there any way to remove stripped screws W/out drilling them out?
Nick

1. I'm sorry to say this, but i'd say your HD just went to meet its maker.
2. Nope. You have to drill them out. Why do you want to know, anyway? Stripped screws are useless.

Two of the screws have stripped threads so drilling wouldn't do anything... Anyways, I don't want to drill the screen out if the drill slips.
BTW... does anyone still make laptop scsi drives?

Don't give up quite yet. Try reformatting and reinstalling the os. The repeated clicking can mean that it's toast, but it can also mean that just part of the boot blocks got corrupted. That, you can fix by reformatting. Got nothing to lose!
If worse comes to worst, then check out eBay for sources of scsi PB drives. Sometimes you can find a reasonable deal.
