Yes we have spaces! in the heading

I got my PSOne magazine(I subscribed) & tried out the demo disk, not a great deal of fun..................

I wanted to try doom, well I never liked it but I could'nt remember why, well its pretty cakky, comparing it to other similar products ie;

Wolfstien on my mac(the best?)
Substation on the ST ( only tried the demo but looked & felt good)
Duke nukem 3d for mac (good fun, a tad complicated with the controls?)

& doom is just cakk, I can't think of a game on the pc that I have ever enjoyed, I used to use Gemulator to play old st games like connect 4 & board games & they were better than what the pc has to offer.

This young man is not getting rid of his PSOne, nor his 68k mac.

I am shopping for Wolfstien on the PSOne.

Another one was Teletubbies, not the best thing ever but kich enough to warrant it's purchase, then I found an old Teletubbies for pc & boy is it tedium.

If you have a fast X86 PC, Bleem or Virtual GameStation will plays games quite well. Several copies are floating about of these programs. Rumoured to offer superior graphics than even the original platform, these are always a rare jewel.

I thought that VGS was only available for macs with a G3 or higher? anhyow, it looks as though he said he already has a PSone ;)

Wolf3d is really cool on like, a 386, it does make you think twice about the potential for older computers.

Quke is way better graphics wise. But it's not good unless you have a Pentium II or better and have GLQuake and a good video card. Graphics and storywise, the original Unreal is the best, IMHO. Quake II also has a good story.

I have always wanted to try the "Ghost in the Shell" PS game, I will fire up an emu when I find it.

hated Doom game play also, but I do much enjoy Quake. The game play and physics are more engaging, the rendering engine is decent. Lots ov good maps out there from and for the community.
I play a lot ov MAME roms. Older ones work great, though my G3 400 has difficulty keeping up on emlating most late '90s games. My faves are Qix, a hacked "championship" version ov Pac Man, and Sengoku Ace.

It has already been announced for Mac, and it the beta's dont really run slow at all. Actually it's from what I've read/heard in some cases it runs as good if not better then on the x-trash.

it's because it was ment for the mac in the first place! they just re-compiled it for the X-trash so it would run at least correctly (GAME CONSOLES SHOULDN'T CRASH!!!! THEY ARE HARD-WIRED NOT TO CRASH UNLESS YOU DECIDE TO START HOT-PLUGGING GAMES!!!) and then published it.... it's been well past beta for a LOOOOONG time now, but M$ prolly added some random slowdown subroutines to make you buy the peecee bersion (b@$T@r!)1z3!) \/3r51o|\| yay for l33t! ).... anyhoo, enough psychobabble. Last I looked, marathon aleph one supports tcp/ip games. I will have to double check sometime, but that could lead to a very fun MLA game server

Naked dances and betas aside, where does one get the mac version of Halo? I'd be interested in trying it, to say the least.

This was up on MacGamer a few weeks ago. There is a linked video of an interview with the developers of Halo for Mac at Westlake Interactive. Most of Halo is complete, the networking is complete. All that is left is the little things like pixel shaders.

From experience with Halo PC (my brother got it for his birthday), your going to need a very powerful Mac. I'd say a 1GHz minimum with GeForce 4Ti for a graphics card should be a minimum to what you'd need.

My brother has been complaining non-stop about how his 2.6GHz P4 with nVidia GeForce FX 5600 can't run Halo at 30fps. Hehehe...

I have the GHz mac, and the 64MB Radeon 9000Mobile, SIGN ME UP!!!

Seriously though, in the gaming world now, it's not an issue of who has the fastest, most memory or newest video card.
Lately, you need a combination of many different kind of fast components to make a suitable gaming system. This is probably why new systems from Dell designed just for games, and the companies like AlienWare are becoming successful.

*(I LOVE that Area-51's case, BTW)

Your TiBook's Radeon 9000 probably would handle Halo decently... at least getting 20fps. Probably would do better than a GeForce 4MX in the long run. (Halo is apparently coded to take advantage of ATI hardware, not nVidia)

I completely agree. Although hardware it is still a main factor, it is changing to who can code the program the best to run on current hardware. Make the software better, and you won't need as much hardware for the same effect.
