Hey, its me again, I still need to get rid of more computers and bring in some more cash for my Sun or SGI machine, those things are expensive. I have decided to sell one of the two machines listed below and the telecast with one of them. I also have a micropolis RAID tower that I can include as an option. The Quadra will have a 4 GB seagate disk, 64 MB memory, and a CD drive. The WGS 9150 will have 72 MB Memory, a 4 GB Seagate, a CD drive, an Apple HPV card, and a bezel for a dat, but no DAT drive, I need that for my future unix box. The WGS 9150 is in mint condition, it was stored in someone's closet for a long time. It doesnt even have dust or sunspots. I would like to get about 100 for the Quadra 950 with telecast or 150 for the WGS 9150 with telecast. Options include the RAID tower for 50, a 66 MHz apple PPC card for the Quadra for 30 and a 10/100 nubus board for either one for 25. I'd like to note that the Quadra is more than capable of doing the editing without the PPC card because all of the video processing is handled in the telecast. The machine only needs to have a fast enought SCSI disk to supply the telecast with the data. The RAID tower consists of three 1.6 GB identical drives and one 2 GB drive. Included is one cable to connect to a computer. I can preformat the drive array for RAID for free or include FWB RAID Toolkit in the box, w/ manuals for an extra 20. None of the prices include shipping. If you really wanted, I could sell anyone of the computers or the telecast individually. Just want to say how cool the telecast is, it has inputs for every single component under the sun, even an input for RGB from DVD players. I have tested it and it seems to work fine, but due to school and work, it has fallen by the wayside somewhat. The telecast will be shipped in the original box as shown below. The telecast also comes with original software disks and original manuals in their binders. Just a neat note, this was once owned by tunes.com and has a sticker that reflects that on the top. I can also include a free "trial" copy of premier if you buy the telecast. Pics will soon follow.Ok, pics are here. Hrm, I'm interested in the RAID, can you tell me any more about it? Just SCSI? Do I need something special? How fast is the RAID, and is there a drive size limit? Can I use it with say a Beige G3?________________ foetoid, that's (fee-toy-duh) http://www.foetoid.doesntexist.com da band: http://www.burningabbey.com Edited by - foetoid on 05 Oct 2003 12:15:11 |

The RAID array is just a bunch of SCSI Micropolis brand disks in a nice tower. There isnt anything special about them really. In fact, I never used the tower as a RAID array, just as a bunch of disks, each one held something like documents, movies, system stuff, etc. No special software is required to use them in that fashion. They are splittable too, I used to remove the drives from array when I wanted to make sure I didnt actually format a drive. They dont depend on each other unless you format it as a RAID. As far as speed goes, beats me, I never bothered to compare it to anything else. But it probably does do well in a RAID configuration. Any limits like drive size are going to be with the software, so just get a recent copy of FWB or something and it should work. I suspect that you would be able to use it on a Beige G3. I would kind of like to sell this with the telecast, but I might consider selling it separately.Logan Quadra 950, Workgroup Server 9150, Performa 6400, Powerbook 2300c, 4x Quadra 700's, iBook |

hrm, how does the telecast interface with the computer? SCSI? if so, how does that work ok with the raid too? I'm kinda really interested in the Telecast now too... My friend told me to ask what kind of SCSI it is, like what revision or whatever. Thanks...________________ foetoid, that's (fee-toy-duh) http://www.foetoid.doesntexist.com da band: http://www.burningabbey.com |

Ok, the Telecast interfaces to the computer with this huge black cable that plugs into the back it. It then connects to the mac with that cable which splits into three plugs. Two of them connect to one card, which is the videovision card and you can get it if you just buy a radius Videovision, and the third part of that big cable plugs into the Telecast board. The videovision w/o the telecast option is just a video breakout box that doesnt include any of the high-tier digital audio and video inputs. The two cards then interface together inside the computer with a special jumper connector. It was a great idea, buy a videovision now, and then get the Telecast upgrade later and you can retain some of your investment. As far as working with the RAID, what the telecast does is take the video in, compress it using motion JPEG, and then send it to the Mac hardware to be written to disk. The same process in reverse for playback. The Mac has to handle the disk IO because the telecast doesnt have disk controller hardware on it. So, instead of the processor in your mac slowing things down, it is disk IO instead, and so Radius recommended and sold a RAID array to use with the telecast. As far as specs on the RAID setup, I think they are probably 10 MBps drives, but I am not entirely sure. The array is branded as a Micropolis RAIDIon LT. Good luck finding information on them though, Micropolis is out of business.Quadra 950, Workgroup Server 9150, Performa 6400, Powerbook 2300c, 4x Quadra 700's, iBook |

Also, I think I am going to take the 9150 off of the market too, I really only wanted to get rid of one or the other and not both. But, if you really want it, I might sell it, so email me.Logan Quadra 950, Workgroup Server 9150, Performa 6400, Powerbook 2300c, 4x Quadra 700's, iBook |

Why were you so crazy about getting A/UX documentation when you went and sold the Q950 that could run it.

I didnt care which machine I ran A/UX on, it just had to be a 68k. After a while I decided that the Quadra 950 was too much of a energy waster to use so I bought a couple of Quadra 700's to use. At one time I was planning to get the AWGS 95 card for the 950. I still have plans to use A/UX and I found a genuine copy of A/UX 3 and the entire A/UX manual set on ebay so now I'm ready to get started with it.Quadra 950, Workgroup Server 9150, Performa 6400, Powerbook 2300c, 4x Quadra 700's, iBook |
