Hello,

I just recently bought a Iomega CDRW burner and have tried to install it in a iMac 233 (Bondy Blue) with MacOS 9.2

The iMac just freeze when it starts with the Burner plugged on the USB port.

Anyone out ther have experienced the same issue ?

Does one of you know what kind of USB is on the BondyBlue : USB 1.0 or USB 1.1.

Could a difference of version explain the freeze ?

Thank you for your help.

Could be maybe that it needs a firmware upgrade. Not sure.

This isn't 68k, though, but whatever...

1) Check Iomega's web site for the latest drive firmware versions / system driver versions

2) To make sure the fault isn't the iMac's run Software Update and make your system completely up-to-date (just short of upgrading to Mac OS X )

As I ercall (and this is extremely confusing) there is no "USB 1.0" they went straight to 1.1...

does the burner work if you boot it without it connected, and then connecetd after it boots?

The Bondi=233 A/B iMacs had USB 1.1, there was no "full speed" it was all the same speed, 12 megabits...

some of other computers have dual USB busses if that's what you mean, and the 233 iMac is not one of them.
