I've decided, that there really isn't any one way to "win" when trying to get a projector, especially when the task comes to getting one for cheap, and deciding what form factor will let youdo that (panel to set on overhead, or digital projector.)

So I'm going to build my own freakish cross between the two...

It's going to have a box with a light inside, and the LCD panel will sit on that, above of that which will be my mirrors and lenses (if applicable).

I hope to accomplish my long-running dream of having a projector, and a new thought, that if I can make it a learning experience, the parentals will enjoy the fact that I'm doing it a bit more

a truly noble task is ahead of you cory! Have you much experience with optics/physics? What about buying an old projector for cheap, and using the parts?

Good luck on the project.

If you find a scrap/free photocopier or scanner, the lenses in them could be useful for your projector. You might also find that a fan or two from an old copier or computer will help keep your LCD panel cool.

There is a webpage that describe how to build one. I think that I have it book marked at home. You might try over at www.avsfourm.com also, as I think that is where I found it.

Cory, next time you see an OHP, have a look at what sort of lenses and crap it uses, and the way the mirror(s) is mounted.

Yeah, I know, I always stare off into space in the general direction of the projector anyway, that's almost the safest place to look, is the projector and/or the computer of the classroom

I'm going to go to the swap meet this weekend, (iHope) and see if I can find like, an OHP, or LCDpanel...

I have a line on a nearly perfect, new in box, Dukane OHP, I want to take this offer, because it makes the entire solution that much closer.

I might have a bit less whole to do on my own...
