I have an IMAX Apus3000, with a 603e/ 200 processor and an macpicasso520 video card. I'm trying to get a good resolution (1024x768 minimum) WITH lots of colours , that more that just 256. I also have 112 MB RAM. Is thare a way I can get that? And the second problem....... I want to extend the ram memory, I have 8Mb internal, 64mb and a 32 mb SDRAM, I would like to change the 32 for a 64 chip, but the motherboard is limited to just 128 mb........... Can I just disable the internal and use 2 64mb modules? cheers! Edited by - maclover5 on 26 Sep 2003 18:25:29

It should support 136mb, IIRC. Stick a 64 in and it should go to 136 total.~The Penguin **| Want free 68kmla email? Drop me a line |** | Captain, Intelligence Operations / Space Cowboy | | "The choice has been made, but now you must understand it" | |

The video card settings will be determined by the amount of "VRAM" or Video Memory that the video card has. It sounds like your card has about 1MB of VRAM, since my 8600 has 2MB and I can do thousands of colors at 1024 x 768.You will need to find the original manual or specifications for the card/machine and find out if the VRAM can be upgraded. As for memory, disabling onboard RAM never is an option, so I am unsure how the machine will react if it has more RAM than it supports (by swapping said 32MB chip with 64) as it might crash or just ignore the extra RAM.

Yeah, I haven't heard of that system, or the video card...but you should look at the monitors and or monitors and sound control panel (depends on the OS version you have) Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide Editor of the MLAgazine "I'm just a normal computer geek who somehow landed a social life" |

I've never heard of this clone model, but judging from the processor and speed, it is similar to the UMAX or StarMax clones that I have. A lot of the consumer-level clones used Tanzania motherboards, which are relatively poor when it comes to RAM.
Normally, they only have two slots, plus a small amount of onboard RAM. These slots can take 64MB cards, so you should theoretically max out at 136MB, as Da Penguin said. Try it out... worst case scenario is you find out it doesn't work ------------------ Captain Z - Mobile Operations Commander 68K Macintosh Liberation Army 32 68K Macs Liberated Beholder of the Prototype Stick of Justice! |

LOL, yeah, and the best case you can get is that it'll work great....it looks like you already have 112MB though? loooks to be a pretty well-off machine to begin with... if it has PCI then the easiest option would be to put a new PCI radeon in it ... get a PC radeon 7000 and flash it for mac ... you will be awayOrcadian MLA Division 68ks Liberated: 2 |

on any 15" monitor 1024x768 looks best ... 17" looks good at 1280x1024 ... IMHO anything lower is just clumsyOrcadian MLA Division 68ks Liberated: 2 |

I agree. The only reason i don't run my 1710 at 1280x1024 is because my PM8100's AV card only has 2 megs of VRAM. 1152x870 is still a nice res though.
