If you click the link, you'll see that Dana summed it up well, if graphically:

"I think perhaps you've just done the equivalent of a wisdom tooth extraction, performed by going in rectally..."

PS I took the liberty of posting the link to the Amiga thread over on the DealMac Forum. Too good to resist!

Sounds like a normal PC idiot to me. I don't know why he had to remove the drives though....thats the equivilent to removing the motor and the gearbox from a car to install a stereo.

I feel sorry for the friend he was trying to help. That's like 3000 bucks down the tube.

You think if anything goes wrong with the laptop Apple is gonna fix it under warranty? He's voided the warranty on it for good meaning his friend is so out of luck if anything goes wrong on that machine.

So, it's $3,000.00 down the tube if something goes wrong, and from his post and other's reply, he did break stuff on it.

argh, what a bunch of retards. And that guy saying that Mac OS X is difficult to use because it has a command line, which he also mentinoed was burried somewhere obscure which would suggest you didn't have to use it unless you wanted to...

Man, doens't the Amiga have a command line anyway? How can an Amiga user possibly bag a Mac and then say that Windows is better than an Amiga?

Ah, right. I see. Either way, he's a dipshit for not knowing that you DON'T file stuff off in a computer.

LOL, agreed ML5 I only read the initial post, and IIRC, all you do on a tiBook (I'll read my manual later tonight) to install an airport card, is pop open the keyboard, and shove the card into the silly little slot, or you get a PCMCIA card

"then I figured out that it has to go INSIDE the laptop"

t'pshaw... ALL cards go inside the laptop

-blink bink blink- *long, heavy, stunned stare*

WHY!?! and HOW?!?! AND WHY?!?!?!??!?!?!?

just an example to the morbid stupidity of windows... I've spent the last hour and a half fixxing broken shortcuts, which a stupid virus distroyed, which took another hour to find, and before that it took me like 2 hours to load norton to scan the virus (because it was eating up processor cycles with 100 copies of itself running, doing absolutely nothing) sooo..... yeah. it is annoying me....

Well, my Airport card came installed, so that's ok, but inthe iBook it's just under the keyboard! *hopeful look*

Windows, and Windows Users are different things, "users" are different from "People who use it"

Windows Users are somewhat stupid, they put silly toolbars and they bog it down, and they don't prevent themselves from getting virii,

People who use windows (like me or ML5, for example) use Windows, but might not like it, or they use it responsibly (I don't know how ML5 uses windows, but I'm under the impression that he knows how to keep a clean computer ), so it might be the user, not the OS that's causing problems, leavingholes, and not taking preventative maintanence, even if just the bare minimum...

Of course i know how to keep a clean computer! After a good defrag, virus scan, and adware scan, the only things that can slow down my computer are Windohze itself, and people leeching off my shared directories!

just out of curiosity, while oncampus, have you ever went to your own shared directories and gotten stuff? or shared stuff from your computer just for a specific purpose?

(Campus network's gotta be a great thing huh? )

I have seen people destroy equipment (installing memory after dragging their feet on a carpet in winter) when they have no idea what they are doing, and are too stupid to read the directions.

When I get new computers I never had or worked on I take them apart to see whats inside (and to clean them). Generally if you dont see how something comes apart leave it alove for a while and go do something else, come back and you will figure it out. This method works on just about any equipment and should only be done AFTER you download the hardware manualfrom the web. If there is an error with your equipment try to google the problem to see what it could be before you strip it. A simple google on the net would have shown the guy where the part goes on that laptop and saved him countless problems.

It's a TiBook, so it should be new enough to have the manual in the physical as well....

That's alwo how I usually take things apart and such, is I'll find the manual, or leave it alone for awhile, that's how I've gotten the 6500 and 6200 almost completely apart...
