I am using a mac 7500 PowerPC with OS 8.6.
I have not been able to use AOL's Instant messenger with this machine for a month
and can't find anyone to help me. When I sign in, it goes as far as the 'checking screen name and password' message.
Then, I get a screen that tells me 'Your TCP/IP connection has been terminated."
However, I'm still connected to the internet!
I've tried reinstalling AIM with a couple different versions with no success.
Previously, I was using it on OS 8.1 when I started having trouble so I upgraded to 8.6. That didn't help so I reformatted the drive and put fresh copies of AIM (4.3.x) and system 8.6 software on it. No change! Also, I'm using a Motorola VoiceSurfr 56k modem to access the internet.
My ISP hasn't been able to help, either.

Anyone know what might be happening?
