Does anyone know how I can connect my PB165 to my QS G4?

In the old days, I would've just used a serial cable and AppleTalk, but the new Macs lack a serial port, and my PB lacks EtherNet. It does have an internal modem, if that helps...

And no, I'm not getting a USB-to-serial box. Too expensive.

You can either get a PCI card with serial ports for the QS, a SCSI-to-ethernet adapter for the PB (they suck), or a SCSI PCI card for the QS and a HDI-30 to DB-25 cable and set the PB up in external disk mode.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that!!! Wow, that brings back memories of when I used to dial up my friend's Performa down on the beach from my Plus and we'd chat and send files back and form using ZTerm...it's slow as allmighty hell (much slower than AppleTalk), but it is free...

great one! kinda like a null modem setup WITH modems! A really good investment, IMHO, would be a Localtalk-Ethernet bridge. Several 68k's/printers etc. could be phone-netted to the serially impaired mac. if you just need to transfer a few files in an emergency, sometimes e-mail attachments work well as a last-best-cheapest resort.
