Quadra 950: No external CD working?

EPA Starting Member Germany 13 Posts	Posted - 10 Sep 2003 : 21:35:13 Hi Quadra 950 freaks! Yesterday I got my Quadra 950 which I´ve bought over eBay Germany. Also in there was a 601 PPC card!! But I could´nt insert any floppy disk!! Is it defective? Or wrong inserted? I also colud work over SCSI with an external Harddisk but NOT with an external CD! What´s going on with that machine??? EPA Starting Member Germany 13 Posts	Posted - 11 Sep 2003 : 16:36:00 The CD-Lights flashes 3 or 4-times, aka the SCSI-Bus is working... But nothing else happens. No CD icon after at the finder desktop! Manfred Apple IIfx and A/UX: a very interesting thing!

If not, you'll need to either modify the Apple CD-ROM drivers, install the version of the Apple CD-ROM drivers that came with System 7.6 (5.3.2 iThink), or use third party drivers, such as CDSunrise or FWB CD ToolKit. tomlee59 Starting Member USA 46 Posts	Posted - 11 Sep 2003 : 21:02:22 Actually, you want the 5.3.1 drivers. Those will recognize most non-Apple CDROM drives. Apple then "fixed" their "mistake" and made 5.3.2 less compatible. You can get those drivers at the macdrivermuseum archive at Gamba's: http://home.earthlink.net/~gamba2
