liberated : SE/30, added SCSI/ethernet adaptor (very slow), 120Mb HD, zip100 could not boot with only 4 16Mb simms, had to put back 4 1Mb simms (bank A = 4x16, bank B = 4X1)communicator 4.08, macssh68k for remote terminal to my OSX (this makes the 68k mac really useful)

Beautiful liberation. I would love to find an SE/30 for use as a packet sniffer/ LAN monitor. I already have a PDS ethernet board for an SE/30, I just lack the SE/30.Enjoy your SE/30! One option is Etherpeek, but I hear it is expensive. I've also heard that some people install Linux on an SE/30 and use some type of Linux software to watch the network. Since I do not have an SE/30 yet, I have not looked into the details.G4From128k by Day: Mild-Mannered Engineer and Trapeze(tm) Artist by Night: Colonel of Truth, Justice, and the Macintosh Way Reserve Officer in 68kMLA Cantankerous Coot Contingent

I have a rather lovely 8mb SE/30 sitting in my attic. I recently transplanted a 1gb drive into it and an Asante SE30 ethernet card but alas have no room ofr it in my office at present. Therefore it shares loft space with a Plus (2.5mb - no hdd) and a boxed Amiga 2000 (4mb, 40mb hdd). If i had room for them all I'd play with them daily but my iMacs and my SGi o2 take up all my available deskspace. They are lovely beasties though, those SE/30'sPatrick

yes nescape 4 runs on 68030 but requires a lot of ram (don't know if it will run on another mac than SE/30)

I have an SE/30… that I could sell, but it was like our first computer…it still works fine [except for the bad monitor], and we do have a SuperMac video card we could use in it, but I haven't gotten to play around with that, and my dad says it needs to be reset to work? oh well… I guess It'll still be waiting for some purpose in life If I open my window all the bugs will get in…That's just one more reason to use a Mac! how much ram? that might make a nice server, most of the compacts didn't use that much power (but with a video card... :eep:) nevermind Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide Editor of the MLAgazine "I'm just a normal computer geek who somehow landed a social life" |

If I were using NS 3 or 4 on an SE/30, I wouldn't even mind having to wait several minutes (or longer) for it to load, I mean NS4 is about 1999-2000 new isn't it? (or was that 4.7?, was there even a Netscape 5??)Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide Editor of the MLAgazine "I'm just a normal computer geek who somehow landed a social life" |

hehehe, I do remember though, that I was using NS 4.x on the PC, and suddenly they'd released NetScape 6.0 a 20 MB download that took me 2 hours and I considered it HUGE! lol ( I think it was 20 mb anyway...)
