One moment of silence please.March 1992 - September 2003 She started life as a standard Macintosh Classic II with 4 megs of RAM and a 40 meg HD, doing stuff for the music department at my old school. She did a lot of work for 4 years, until 1998 when she was phased out and sold at the school fete. Competition was tough, as there were a few PC users out to get her, but in the end, i got her, for ten bucks, a steal at a time when Classic IIs were still selling for AU$220 each. I remember the day i went to keyboarding class and walked by a bunch of old 286s destined for sale at the school fete. She was there, waiting to be killed off. However, as i said before, I won her, and she got a nice home until she died. I think her analog board is shot, but next time i go home i'll see if she's fixable, but i have a bad feeling she might not be. Thanks, G4. Ah well, even if she isn't fixable, her soul will live on forever in an external SCSI case i will put the HD in if she's not fixable, but still..."**** em" - Jobs in regards to customers Warrior maclover5 68kMLA Official 68kMLA Detective Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |

I've always thought it interesting that an HD transplant was like a brain transplant. So much of the personality of a computer is in the applications and files on the HD. On the other hand, the external form factor (whether its a cute little SE/30 or a big hulking q950) does influence my personal relationship with a computer.Hmmm... I wonder if they will have human HD transplants sometime. Sometimes I think my brain could use a new case -- one with more memory, faster processor, better I/O, etc. etc. I hope you can fix Maxine. Yeah! Or if you run out of space, you could just add another one, instead of having to forget stuff, like I do!!!! quote:

Lol yeah. There is a difference though: All Ipexes look ugly unless they are recased in a nice looking case. However, there are some people who have looked nice since Day 1."**** em" - Jobs in regards to customers Warrior maclover5 68kMLA Official 68kMLA Detective Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |

Not really, AFAIK. Btw, iforgot to say what symptoms mine has. It gives you the chessboard pattern. I think the analog is borked. wow, I hope you can fix her, or maybe start a shrine to all macintoshes, missing, killed or injured in action, faithful service of their masters, and owners.Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide Editor of the MLAgazine "I'm just a normal computer geek who somehow landed a social life" |
