I don't have the money for this now, but towards the end of the month I will when some money from sales arives in.

So anyone who has good 5300 batteries please let me know so my baby can go out for her walks. She needs the fresh air, she can't be locked inside forever!

I think that this guy [ porkchop@aracnet.com ] might have some…

this is the guy that had tones of stuff at the PMUG Swap meet a while ago… [including PB5300 batteries, and dual battery chargers…]

So, he's worth a try I guess?

If I open my window all the bugs will get in…That's just one more reason to use a Mac!

I have a full 5300CS machine for parts.
Has battery that I got @ the Microcenter clearance shelf, should be good.
I'd like to trade rather than sell. I am looking for Newton items and other small do-dads.

Just a warning - the seller mentioned above (porkchop@aracnet.com) shouldnt be trusted.

He replied to a netnews post of mine (on the mac printing bboard looking for a stylewriter install disk and a keyspan USB/ADB adapter to keep an old epson printer working) on July 23rd and I sent him the money for them.

I have been buying things online for almost 15 years (probably close to 500 items), and this is the first time I got screwed. He doesnt reply to emails anymore, and doesnt return phone calls.

I'm not trying to be vindictive - I am only out $30. But if someone is gonna screw you for $30, I can only assume they would do it when stakes are higher. Dont want to see it happen around here.

Buyer beware.

Note I'll be pleased to edit this if the guy makes good, but after 3 months I doubt it.

Humm… That seems kinda odd… though he did seem like a really buisy guy…

I met him once [and got one of his buisness cards with the email on it], at the Portland Mac User Group swap meet [he was the guy with the most stuff, and everyone *waiting* to talk to him]

There's another swap meet in [I belive] January… If you remind me I could ask him what's going on?
Oh- I also have his phone numbers if you want?

503-deleted incase he didn't want this posted [home/work I think]

Youre kidding, right? Resolve it in January after I sent the money in July?? Dont get me wrong, I appreciate the offer of help, but I hope you realize how hollow it sounds. I've had to make other arrangements already. Now I'm just hoping to get a refund.

I had the phone numbers above (which I didnt want to post inappropriately - I suggest you edit your post) and he doesnt answer or return calls. Note he has changed residences and no longer lives at the address to where I mailed the check.

I even emailed him personally to let him know I made this post, and got no response.

As I've said, will be happy to update this message if he makes good.

Well, I wasn't really kidding… but I do realize that it is a very slim chance, but I always figure that any chance is better than none…

About getting screwed over, I feel that I was probly screwed over [either by imacman or the post office - but imacman DID get my QT200 so…] Yea… I can simpathise with your problem, that's why I want to try to help. ^_^

If you are still looking, Megamacs.com has some batteries for cheap. Someone on another board said they bought these and held a charge well.

Derek

sincere thanks for both the sympathy and the offer.

Since I still havent heard anything from Greg, my note of warning above should stand for others to beware.

The fact that I have seen him advertising elsewhere for similar things really bothers me - I have been trying to send similar notes of warning in those forums too. As I said above, if he is willing to work hard to screw someone out of $30, a few hundred for some systems is certainly not out of range.

Well, I suppose I'll keep an eye out then.
Thanks for warning everyone. ^_^
