Hi, I got both sets of software I was just curious which would be best to install. There's only 6 minor upgrades between 7.6.1 and 7.5.5 so whats the big difference?. Often I use 7.6.1 as a backup OS on a seperate partition just because it's just two installs, 7.6 and the update. With 7.5.5 there's all those disk images... In what cases would it better to use 7.6.1 over 7.5.5 and vice versa?Editor of the printed word, Ministry of 68k Truths (mini6) ------------------ PowerCD, Mac HD 20, SE, Classic II, IIx, IIvi, PB 170, LC 475, LC 575, Quadra 650, Performa 5200, iMac 333 How you like d'em apples?! |

The most stable macos I use are 7.6.1, 8.1, and 9.1I have everything from 7.0.1 to 9.1 around here somewhere, most original cd's or floppies I dont bother with 7.5.X since they are kind of buggy

Yea, Like Unknown K said, 7.5.x isn't as stable…one of the only visible differnces I remember, is that 7.6.1 used a more modern apple talk set up [AppleTalk control panel vs Network control panel] and 7.6.1 can run a lot of apps that 7.5.x can't… If I open my window all the bugs will get in…That's just one more reason to use a Mac! Os 7.6.1 was a major overhaul to 7.5.5 and introduced new engines, features and more importantly, many bugs or crashes that used to dictate a reboot are now not fatal, you can continue using the machine even if something crashes.
