Hi,

Right now, my laptop is running 7.6.1, I was wodnering, should I take the OS back a few clicks? How much space would I save by taking it to 7.5.3? How much eye candy will I loose?

My favourite is 7.1. You can dress it up to be almost identical to 7.6.1 (or even 8.1), if you so desire.

I'd say keep 7.6.1, and just shave some extensions off, remember 7.6.1 is supposed to be the most stable 7.x.x

and I dont think it wouldnt save a lot of space to go back down…

How much RAM have you got? On my 180c (when it was still alive....RIP.....), 7.6.1 ran quite well under 14 megs.

10 years of silt collecting on the install is to long, I have decided.

If you can wait a week (for me to get back to the uni's T1), i'll have the disk images available for you to download and use.

This is a probably a stupid question, but ill ask anyway. If I were to reinstall 7.6.1, will the modem be found? Its one of the internal 14kbs ones.

7.6 runs quite decently on my 540c (12 MB RAM).
The only reason it's running 7.6, though, is because I had the install disc with the "Universal System Folder" feature.

7.5.x might be slightly faster.

Im not really concerned about spped, more about diskspace. As long as I can get Microsoft Word, AOL Instant Messanger, IE, and Armory Alley and a few other games Im looking for, Im happy. Anyone able to point me in the direction of some Microsoft Word disks for 68k Macs?

Sure, they're right over there. *pointing to media cabinet in the corner*

Seriously, try Hotline.

*raises hand…*
Ive got some Word 4.x disks… if You log on to my [probly tempry] Hotline server [pyrocat.dyndns.org], I could post them for you…
but I think that a nice copy of Claris Works 4.0 would be a lot better

oh, and you might be able to convince me to post my 7.6.1 CD [I think it has a copy of Claris Works 4.0 on it ]

Cant get it now, PB180c is going to the chop, going to try and sell the RAM, Screen and Hardrive, in order to raise some capital inorder to buy myself a nice Duo 280c, then Ill take your disks

Or, get another 180c, and keep the other for the eventual failures...
