This is one of those posts where I outline why I am so happy, and perhaps in the proccess, will make others happy by a means of transferance. Well, that is the general idea.

If you ever find your life boring, dull and somewhat unfufilling, sometimes the trick is to give yourself a swift kick. Not something we all enjoy doing, but it works wonders.

I'm always the person who can't maintain a stable balance of anything. All my friends now that if I'm off balance they just need to give me a swift kick so to speak, and boom, I'm back to normal. I'm like the Russian machine that can only be fixed by hitting it.

Certianly my attempts at becoming closer to this community have been good and bad, in the sense that I might hAve made mistakes and maybe made some bad calls. But altogether, it's a great experience that in some ways makes me feel a little closer to the rest of the world.

Here's the catch: Once you commit, if you break it, your toast. There may be ways to break this catch, but seldom do they work. I know, I'm always the one who challenges things even if I only do it inside myself. So anyone who wants to feel alive, do something crazy, defend your actions and don't let people get you down. People cannot make you upset or down unless they have your express permission.

So now that I have committed to the 68K community and most importantly, to the Macintosh community, I won't be turning back. Sure, there will be nights when I will toss and turn and have a cold sweat because I might have been used to something on the Windows side of things, but the whole thing boils down to freedom. I have the freedom to be anything I want. Alot of people attack Mac users and think Macs suck or are stupid and Windows rules. Yet, I would point out these people are like brainwashed crack addicts who MUST go back to it or suffer consqeuences. People believe this illusion that there is no other way of doing things. Like everything in history, this changes, with many people resisting change.

I've watched .com empires collapse, I've seen terorist attacks, I've seen almost as much as I can in the 23 years I have been on planet earth. So what's next? Time to kick up the dirt and raise holy hell.

Starting this week, I am turning a new leaf, taking a new direction. Nothing vague or unatainable, just sorting out the mes that's in my head and on the floor beneath me.

It is my hope that the website DaPenguin purchased will be a little more complete, some may have noticed some changes to it, and this I think is for the better. In the past I put alot of emphasis on my archives, and sadly it seemed the only reason alot of people looked to me was because I had them. Sometimes too much attention is a bad thing. I still get roughly 4 e-mails a day in the various e-mail accounts I used with people asking for stuff. I just stopped responding to them. Now it's time to serve people in a way I can, with information that helps them to be free.

68K Macs may be in the final stages of thier lives in regards to technology, but for many people, if they only knew what they can do, they are not obsolete at all.

So let's raise hell and get the liberations going. We should co-ordinate this stuff, find people who need computers and hook them up with locals who have Macs that need homes. I know in my area I have access to Macs, so if anyone knows people in the GVRD that could use a machine for school etc., let me know, I can donate some.

It may have been an unusual post, but it sure cleared my mind and now I'm ready to hum along like a Mac PSU when it purrs. ;-)

What site did Penguin purchase? But yes, i know what you mean, especially about the kick in the guts thing. In the morning i find that i'm like my LC630 or our old Holden ute: It takes a few hard, solid, well placed kicks in the guts to get it going, but once its working, its really good! And with the idea of changing well supported internet protocols (SMTP and TCP/IP for example), i do agree with the fact that 68k Macs may be in the final stages of their lives in regards to technology. Not many people make software for them anymore, and it is becoming harder and harder to find parts for them (SCSI hard drives and power supplies, for example). Whats most important though, is that with the appropriate knowledge and equipment, today they can still do what they did ten years ago, just as well as they did back then. And as llama once said....

I'm going to be using my "outdated technology" even though it's only 4-5 years old, the PowerMac G3...

I'm going to try to get my Macintosh IIsi out one of these days, and run A/UX on it... there's Apache for it, and I can get and compile or something of the PHP and the MySQL...

it'd make a great little thingy for stuffness

My 100th post…

quote:
LETS GO LIBERATE SOME FRIGGEN MACS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea, lets do that!
I have a plan for the area around me, since I can get computers/office equip by the pallet [100-200$ ea]
I'm hoping that I can get enough computer to try and make an offer to a senior center, or something like that… Since my grandma is totally loaded with enough power, from just a 5260 [which I might be able to get a whole pallet of], I belive that I could get a bunch set up, make me some $, and free the computers from the evil pallet life!
I can also sometimes get computers from the schools, around here [with all the iMacs they've bought recently]
I can also try to sell old Macs to people at school such as Mike_blast_dude ^_^ [remember, he bought the LC III; for Mouse Practice]

I wonder, if someday there should be a MLA meet…
though, with everyone from Canada to Au. and beyond, I dont know how it could work perfectly… Maybe when we all have G6's and iChat AV3D

but for now…
It's time to Liberate!

If I open my window all the bugs will get in…That's just one more reason to use a Mac!

I know that, but still, wouldn't it be considered a major part in 68kMLA history?

Yes, it is going to be a VERY important note in the history of the MLA...

It's gathering of a few major MLAers, someother people and mostly the "SuperChat™" group (anybody whose AIM is on my buddy list)

Who knows, maybe I'll have enough for a plane ticket and a hotel by then, I can bring my (then to be current) girlfriend along for a nice view of whereever we meet.
