I was wondering if anyone still has the Aaron software, that emulates the look of system 8 on system 7? I am also on the lookout for something which I *think* was called "Bee-Box"... it made all the windows look like they had little yellow tags for title bars. I had both of these utilities on my old Performa 475 (don't laugh), but alas, the old Performa went the way of the dinosaur, and died, so I was not able to retrieve these utilities. I'd like to be able to use them on my Power Macintosh 7200/90. I'd appreciate any help you folks could send my way. Thanks. |

Welcome to your first post on the MLA. We hope you'll stick around and have some funhee. Aaron I believe is still downloadedable by doing a simple google search for it. The other one, might have been a Kaleidascope Theme...although I can't say for sure.

there was (and still is) a BeeBox Kaleidoscope theme, and there was an Apple Platanium one too so getting a copy of Kaleidoscope would be your best betOrcadian MLA Division 68ks Liberated: 2 |

On the Kaleidoscope website look around for an area reffering to "Greg's shareware"; this page has the [official] download link for Aaron; along with a few other little nifty things [PowerWindows anyone?]If I open my window all the bugs will get in…That's just one more reason to use a Mac! Performa 475's rock! my main webserver, fileserver, and whatnot servers are all overclocked 475's (and feetsmacs). Oh, and to emulate the look of system 8 on system 7...I tried that on my IIci "back in the day", and it was a disaster Artillery Commander/Engineer, 68kMLA Liberated: LCII , III+, IIci, Q700, 800, and 840av, P550, 410 Contraband: Beige G3/300 MT o/c 400mhz, (2) 6100's Hotline mirror server: 68k.dyndns.org

Well, thank you, everyone, for your warm welcome and help. Yes, it's true... my first computer was a Performa 475. In retrospect, I guess it was basically equal to an LCIII. I have very fond memories of both these model Apples... we used the LCIII at my high school, and during lunch break, me, my friends, and my favorite teacher, who is to this day, my very close personal friend, would gather in the Mac Lab, and play a rousing game of my FAVORITE computer game ever, even to this day, "Hellcats Over the Pacific". We also used to engage in head-to-head campaings on "Chuck Yeager's Air Combat". Those were great times, and on my Performa at home, I went from not knowing how to move the plane in Hellcats, to quickly... very quickly, becoming a total Hellcats expert and authority. That game is just so darned FUN!The classroom next door was the primary computer learning lab, and IT was fully equipped with ALL Mac SE's! I had so much fun with SuperPaint 2.0 on those machines! I missed those "original" looking Macs, so recently, when I saw a good example of a Macintosh Classic on ebay, I had to have it. Fortunately, everything worked perfectly, and still does. I love that little Classic! I have to admit that personally, I myself am mainly partial to the old Mac Classics and those macs that ran on system 7.0 to 7.5... I'm not a big "new" Apple fan. But ever since I have seen the stuff on the awesome new G5, I have sworn that the G5 WILL be my next computer. I love everything about it... the look, the performance... everything. Apple's made a winner again! I was curious if anyone could help me with one final question regarding my newer Power Macintosh 7200/90. I have Hellcats installed on it, along with its companion game, Leyte Gulf. On the old Performa 475, everything worked perfect. On the Power Macintosh, everything works, but sound does not come through at all. Is this an incompatibility issue, or is there something wrong with the software in the new computer, or the computer itself? I have the volume all the way up, and even with speakers attached, there is NO sound at all with the game. I cannot figure out why the sound will not register on the newer machine. Well, thanks again, everyone, for your warm welcome and help. I do intend to stick around for quite a while, now that I own a Classic! Until next time!
