I'm getting really funky spam from Mailerdaemons, sysadmins and postmasters saying my email have bounced. I get like 20 in a day. I may make 1 or 2 emails a day...

I get the same thing, or we get mail from the mail daemons telling us someone tried to relay messages through our servers, but thankfully we don't allow relays.

Alot of returned mail is iether SPAM or spammer's attempts to use your mail system to send mail. Sad.

spam (as in the meat) is actually REALLY good when you fry it and then put it on toasted bread with mayonnaise and mustard! its the only way i'll eat the stuff, but its actually very good.

spam (as in the mail) isnt a problem for me because Mail.app catches it all... Outlook 2k2 on WinXP doesnt though, so i get to read it all when i'm on the winbox

so here's what I'm wondering...

why do you all add ".app" to "mail" ???

so anyway... this post came from Cory on safari.app

also... I don't get too much spam... I worry when I get more than four eMails in a 24 hour period though

Some OS X applications have .app placed to distinguish that that file is indeed the program file. At least, that's what I noticed with Opera 6. The main file was "Opera 6.app".

The main reason starts with N, ends with T, and is one of the main reasons we have OS X.

"IC" I thought you were referrencing the NT, which stood for "New Technology" IIRC...

NeXT is pretty cool maybe I'll get it for my VPCTV (OS4.2 or whatever)

hmm... :-\

I'll just call it "mail" like apple does

NT didn't... but that's what I thought you'd said...

Apple needs to put a "press crtl command backspace to login" prompt on every OSX machine, or maybe Option, Command, ESC will bring up an NT-like "Mac OS X Security" window

anyway...

Oh s**t.

My hotmail address is now in the hands of spammers. I got an email this morning from some guy saying that he had been getting spam from my hotmail address. You guys think it could be the same people that are using my address for spamming?

maclovr

some of the people working on the network I administer have been having some similar issues. None of the local machines have viruses. It could be the mail server, meaning. . .hotmail could have a virus! I know microsoft was hit pretty bad by the Blaster Virus. they had to shut down their previous Windows Update site because it was infected, and their site was down for 4-6 hours or so. Who knows what else was hit.

Yahoo has better spam protection. And the reason hotmail is notorious for SPAM is that everyone knows it's a good investment for SPAM. The system is slow, buggy and they do dictionary attacks. A few people have been caught amd are on trial for Hotmail SPAM.
