I'm new here, stumbled onto the site looking for info about a PRAM battery this morning, so naturally I registered. I live in the U.S., the main places I search in are a large Goodwill (about the size of a super wal-mart), and a small YMCA thrift shop which has racks and racks of keyboards, and the occasional stray macintosh.

The 68k machines and equipment I liberated (Not much, but I haven't been in the business long):
Macintosh SE/$1.98 Thrift Shop As Is (All original,8MHz MC68000, 1MB RAM, 20SC internal HDD, 800k disk drive, System 6.02, Software: Word 5.1, MacWrite II, Calendar Maker, Virus RX, Pyro! Screen saver.)
Macintosh LC 475/$1.98 Thrift Shop As Is (Gutted. Needs hard drive, floppy drive, case fan. I added the jumper to change gestalt to Quadra 605)
Apple ImageWriter II/$2.35 Goodwill No Markings (Good Condition, Slightly Yellowed, with name of West Va. Public School scratched into one side. Works, but need drivers)

Why? I absolutely cannot stand Windows. Ever since Windows 98, it's been like this: Looks pretty from a distance, New Features, Updated IE (Integrated Exploder/Internet Explorer), More Blue Screens. And then I used a macintosh. It was much easier to use, and much more trouble-free. (I could actually click on something without getting a Blue Screen.)

Rank: Technician
68k's Liberated:
Macintosh SE, Macintosh LC 475.

68k-related Equipment:
ImageWriter II

Count yourself lucky! my SE, while it has the 1.44meg floppy drive, has no hard drive. I have a floppy driven mac, and with one disk drive thats not very fun.

EDIT: hmm, you might want to consider upgrading that System to 6.0.8, it runs beautifully on my SE and includes the drivers for all the apple printers, which would solve your printer-driver issue.

Edit #2: Forgot the link: here is where you can download it; sorry

Edit #3: grr... forgot quotation marks on the URL.

The sad part being that we seem to have scared another one off with so many replies or something...

I remember when I was new I wanted to be the "hot topic" with everyone replying and stuff...
