Hi,
i`m new to the 68kMLA and think it's a great community. My English is pretty bad, because i'm only 16 and still learning it at school :-/. Sorry for that :).

My Question:

I swapped the P630 33Mhz 68LC040 CPU with a Quadra 700 25Mhz 68040 one and put a heatsink on it. It runs great @33Mhz.. but after 2-3 hours of testing, the CPU+heatsink became very hot. Ok, nothing went wrong but is it really good to use P630 for some "longer" work now?

By installing the 25 Mhz '040 on a 33 Mhz board, you have actually overclocked the processor. It will run fine, but you may want to put a fan on it, as well as a heatsink, to try and keep the temperature low.

it should be fine as long as it dosent get to hot ... what kind of heatsink is it ??? ... you could maybe try a slightly bigger one (or just use a fan)

I've had good luck with heatsink/fan combos designed for the Pentium 1.

I used the Quadra 700 heatsink but it gets too hot.
I've tried a pentium heatsink/fan combo and it works good. But i don't know how to clip that damn thing to the CPU. Would glue work? ;)

How'd you attach it? I've been having similar problems with mine.

I used some very strong double-sided tape at the edges of the cpu and some CPU thermal compound (don't know if its the right word ??) in the center.
