I know not all of our members are familiar with the MAF, but there's an unregistered poster over at the Anything Apple forum who's making some pretty outrageous claims about people in Australia who literally throw away PowerMac 9500's. They claim to have seen a 9500/350 (the Mach V mobo!) for AUS$5 in a thrift store, which has to be total BS. They go on to say that anything less than a G4 500 is completely useless and should be put in the garbage. Sure, it's not specifically 68k, but they're basically blanketing us as well as even high-end Legacy PPC's as trash. If some of our Aussie members, Coxy, Dana, Maclover, etc., wouldn't mind visiting the thread to disprove this I think the MAF would be much obliged. Here's a link to the thread. 666th poster to the 68K Macintosh Liberation Army Forums Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Visit my site! |

Thanks, Dana! BB and some others had good stuff to add, as well. Unregistered trolls on the MAF are a pretty common occurance, but to have one put down anything older than a G4 500 as trash, and to actually keep posting about it again and again, is purely idiotic and needed a local response.666th poster to the 68K Macintosh Liberation Army Forums Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Visit my site! |

P.S. - Glad to see you got some interest in some of the other threads there, Dana. However, I would reccomend that you register your username. The MAF isn't always as friendly as we are here, and people have been known to "hijack" unregistered names. 666th poster to the 68K Macintosh Liberation Army Forums Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Visit my site! |

Normally, I'd leap at the chance to defend older machines. However, in this case, I think the unregistered poster is doing a great job by himself. Just by posting such utterly ridiculous claims, he is inflaming all readers, and forcing them to remember just why it is that old Macs are still awesome.Sgt. Hey, you've got something there, Tallgeese. Maybe "Disposer" is really one of us, stirring up Pro-Old-Mac sentiment in what is the most frequently forum of the MAF! It's a reverse-troll!! 666th poster to the 68K Macintosh Liberation Army Forums Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Visit my site! Hmm, you have 36mb, right? I'm fairly sure Lowendmac.com says that the 630 can address one of the kinds of 64mb SIMMS they tested... -------------------- FireWire is fast General, 4 star beholder of the Quadra/Centris Stick of Justice™ |

Pay no attention to that idiot, he's just another troll looking for flames. Unfortunately, the MAF's Anything Apple forum is infested with them. I just hope they never come to the 68kmla forums.Wonko The Sane Engineer-in-training 3 Macs Liberated "You can't possibly be a scientist if you mind people thinking that you're a fool."- Wonko The Sane |

The MAF 68k Forum is where the 68k MLA was born. All us mods used to hang out there, until we got the spark of ingenuity that led us to greener pastures. However, we still lurk over there and jump out at the unsuspecting poster and try to lure them over to the 68k MLA...though usually we just end up scaring them back to anything Apple... 666th poster to the 68K Macintosh Liberation Army Forums Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Visit my site! figured that, it'd be tough to miss it, remind me to either give it up or check first for codes for monospaced fonts a/o text formatting, that was an exercise in futility! more interested to know if the inspector c. quote & onomonpoea rev. of the pink panther theme came across? *pro'ly not!... sigh...*quote:
