I received a Powerbook 160 - to which I added a same model HD coming from another (fried) 160 - as a present and I would like to use it for what it's actually worth.
In order to load a a minimal system, and to practise, I browsed a bit and went on giving a try to the sys 7.1 bootdisk, as well the 7.5.5 Network etc, etc. I also took advantages of all the tips and links you can found at www.lowendmac.net.
In all cases, the machine responds by pointing out that THAT version is not supported by the machine, and inviting to put a more recent one. And loathes the floppy... Any, new, old, re-re-re-formatted, etc (I used 3 0r 4 version of RAWRITE, from Win).
Errr, should I load the Pb 160 with MacOS 8.xxx? I do not think so, than what? Is the presence of a standard HD coming from a corrupted machine bringing some of its lethal legacy to the new one?
I also heard this is not an uncommon problem.
So, what's wrong and which actions shall I take to make that machine indulge and lean towards my humble goals?

Thanx for reading

How much RAM do you have? If you have 4 megs, I reccomend sticking with System 7.1. You'll need the System Enabler 131 though, which can be found here. If you have 8 megs of more though, you're better off with 7.5.5.

Hope this helps.
