Well, this afternoon, i got into my first partly serious bike crash. I was on a small road in the university, on my way back from class. Anyway, there was this van on the road, that looked like it was parked. However, it suddenly decided to turn in my direction. So i got off the road so he could pass, went along th e dirt for a little bit, failed to negotiate a stormwater drain, and did a 180 degree flip. I'm fine, apart from a little scar on my leg...heh, it makes me wonder if Repco is Holden in disguise, because of how little i was hurt. But yeah, I'm fine now. My bike's not damaged, apart from my basket. Btw, that reminds me of a good tip i learnt today: Those baskets make good bullbars.

I have an update on the bike. It still goes, but the handlebar has been bent back a bit from the impact, and i killed my basket...err bullbar when i was bending it back into shape. Then again, i don't blame the handlebar for bending with 70kgs of human on top of it!

Last year i was coming back from a 35 mile bike ride, and I reached down to grab my water bottle. I took a drink then to close the cap i hit it against the bottom of my right handle bars. (Big Mistake™)

That caused me to swerve and grab my left hand against the brake. Now the front brake is on the left side, and I have disc brakes on my bike, and in case you dont know disc breaks grab harder than V-brakes.

Sooo, I did a flipo over the handle bars and wound up with the bike on top of me and me flat on my stomach. I messed up my hands and shattered my helmet. I bent the bar ends and scuffed the front fork a bit but I was ok.

That;s the funniest thing I've heard all day, if you're keen to make progress with the girls lose the basket!
