Is there a iTunes for Mac OS 8.1?

MacMade Starting Member Sweden 6 Posts	Posted - 02 Aug 2003 : 06:33:36 Hi! Im new here :) I hope that someone can help me out about this thing i heard? I read somwhere that there is a modified or hacked version of iTunes that should be working on Mac OS 8.1,is this true? If it is,where can i find it? Thanx MacMade :) I Love Apple :)

But perhaps someone will have it they can e-mail it to you. By the way Welcome to the MLA, try not to just post requests for software, tell us a bit more about your Apple Affections. What macs do you own etc.? We want to know more!

Well,i dont have a Mac yet :( I want to move away from MS crap permantely.I will be a 100% Mac user soon i hope :) Im thinking of a Blue/white G3 for internet use(using OS X panther),but im not sure yet? I can only emulate Mac OS 8.1 on my pc in Win Xp for now. I like to use Mac OS 8.1 its fun,i wish Basilisk II had PPC support so i could try OS 8.6,9.2.2 :) Could you tell me if there is any music software for 68k? Thanx again for your help! I like this forum,verry friendly place indeed! I have no experiance of Hotline,its a old p2p software if im not wrong right? (We just get alot of folks who post because they are looking for something and they don't give back the the community) Basilisk II can't do heavy duty audio but if you grab a hold of this freeware program called SoundApp, http://www.spies.com/~franke/SoundApp/ you will see it has alot of ability to do music inside a 68K mac. There may be other programs too. Searching on google for 68k software should bring up a few archive systems of educational and freeware software for 68k Macintosh. Untill you get yourself a mid level PPC with at least OS 8.1 iTunes won't work even with the patch. Winamp does have a Mac ort, although I belive it's PPC only, not sure about system requirements.

It'll play 128kbps MP3s on a 33MHz '040, or play them at reduced quality on a fast '030. Although I guess with Basilisk II you wouldn't need a fast decoder since it runs at many times the speed of an actual machine. --------------------------------------------- I want to be unique just like everybody else.

I will search more on google.I was wondering if you guys know of any working PPC emulators at all? I heard there should be at least 1-2? I hope that i can give back something to the community,i just dont know what? I have nothing software wise or hardware wise for that matter,sorry? :( I hope i can do something.My aunt got an old Apple computer.I sold my sisters iMac 233Mhz to her.I will check if she still has the old monocrome one left,i think its a Macintosh Classic II! :) Ill be back soon! There are certain problems with trying to emulate a PowerPC on a PC. You can google it and read all the juicy details if you really want to. Giving back to the community means sharing your opinions, offering someone help if you have experience with their problem, and most of all, liberating 68k Macs . --------------------------------------------- I want to be unique just like everybody else.

Apple's hardweare is so close to thier software that if Apple allowed an emulator to allow folks to boot up Mac OS and run apps it would take away thier market share. Apple is mainly a hardware company unlike Microsoft for example which is software only for the most part. The two people who could bring PPC emulation are right now sorta at various roads. One is a complete moron and self centered, the otherhas been a ghost for the last while, with thier website showing the same "soon, soon, soon" sign for like over a year. So, you take it from there.

Maybe I'm confusing something with an earlier attempt. There have been so many emulation projects they tend to get dizzy after a while when you think of all the names.

Unfortunately i havent been able to get in touch with my aunt about her old Macintosh :( I will give back to the community if and when i can,ofcourse i will! I dont have much experiance of Mac�s and Apple things.There is something about this Apple that drags you in and sucks you up lol! The only reason i havent switched to Mac 100% is a money thing. I wish i bought Apple from the beginning.I have learnt the lesson the hard way.I dont like to struggle with MS idiot software any more. Bill Gates is NOT A GENIUS! They produced a binary program a while back and it was proven to be a hacked version of Basilisk II. There is no PPC emulation. GRab a used PPC Mac for 50 bucks from your local junk yard and you have a worthy machine! (Junk yards sadly are where alot of macs end up waiting for a helping hand)
