and thinks that have their roots in something... are usually backwardly compatible with it...

Either that.. .or it IS just another HTTP server like it says...

In which case, I'll just use my apache with OSX server

eWorlder Headline Font.sit

I have hte full installer for the client software.

Is this not normal? I also have the performa 640 dos CD that has those things that llama was talking about.

I thought that everyone had eWorld client software...

it's kinda funny... but here's what I'm thinking.
Under the rules of the DMCA that tBoJ found (ciriconx600, 68k software forum) we could legally "update" eWorld to be functional with today's standards.

Or without touching eWorld, or eWorld server... we could make our own network and/or server software..

in addition, ML5, I'll get the eWorld installer to you laater tonight.

I was thinking of creating a Mac friendly IM service, one that even works on 68K's.

I am doing research on it right now.

There is a service I think is called "The Palace" and folks chat there with a client, and it supports community like design. But if we really want to, we can just create a Mac application that has a small http engine and loads webpages, providing a nice community effect.

i like tBoJ's idea... it doesnt have to be eWorld, it just has to feel like eWorld. still, it would be cool to use the eWorld protocols and such.

Well, research has started, and I belive I have come across the mix of the best protocalls and software to use.

I will work on creating some dummy screenshots, to show what I think a basic look of the service would be like. I also have a small paper I am writing up about it, from the ground up how it's designed, and then people can see what they like about it. This isn't anything for sure, I am just exercising my little area of my mind, then others can do the same and when it's all mixed up together, we can probably have a good setup.

perhaps if worse comes to worse we could design our own protocol? although that doesn't sound as fun as the rest of this little project...

what shall we call it? eVille? eWurld? eCommunityOfPeopleWhoLikeEWorld?

What do you think about that picture as the ideal Community effect? I am working on getting the original artists's permission to use them. They are so nice.

Its a way cool (IMHO!) online service that Apple started in 1994. It was similar to AOL, except it was represented as a town, and there were various buildings that would contain the areas provided. There was a Computer Centre, a "Business and Finance Plaza", a Marketplace, etc.

There's a piccie of the Town square here.

Unfortunately, eWorld finished up about a year and a bit before i started using the internet.

perhaps we could incorporate some of these ideas into eVille (or whatever we call it in the end)

The new clone will be using php based web pages to load inside of a client (that's the plan anyways) and the installer for the client will include most of the images needed, so bandwidth is not wasted, as most images the client has.

I still have to contact the artist of those picures to get permission. But if anyone wants to create graphics or submit ideas go ahead. Right now it's a matter of getting the basic layout right.

I am reviewing the original pictures of eWorld and seeing what I can do. This clone is geting A few ideas from FirstClass, as they have some ingenius features that are good. :)

But, nothing is for sure, I'm just getting a bit of a frAmwork so we have something tomess with. Otherwise we might have a million people saying where we should start.
