I got OSX.1 server for testing purposes, to play with it on the 7300, and for the most part it works WONDERFULLY on the 7300!!

7300/200MHz 604e
64MB RAM
stock 12X cdrom drive
1.2 and 3 GB hdds

I'm going to see if i can't make it actually all work.. I'll be updating it to 10.1.5 that is...

it's great! it works pretty well that is to say...

eee...nice. That screenshot you showed me this afternoon looks funky, too. OS X reporting 1997 hardware. Now THATS strange.

That's awesome! Feel free to send some screenshots my way too eh? :-)

I'm determined to get my hands on something that'll run OS X yet. I came close with that 8100/G3, but not close enough. <sigh>

yeah... the server admin, workgroup manager, and Internet Explorer and a few other of the 'bigger' types of applications don't grow... it's a shared library error...

and it's the Essential Server Software package that borks inthe beginning of the install....

I've been told that maybe the 7300 was something called "unsupported" by Mac OS X... but I gotta wonder what THAT means...

(btw... I'm playing the "I have a really old computer, and I take no heed to "minimum requirements" so I'm going try to no end to make it work.." game)

You did format the drive as HFS+ some programs like the server admin won't work on a UFS drive. There are actually few good reasons to use UFS, although it sounds kinda cool!

the drive is HFS+, and from what I'm told, there isn't any way to fix the borked 'shared library' errors...

there isn't much of a way to work around it...

and it has nothing to do with the memory of the machine

Time to break out Norton UnBork Express.

Perhaps you should try using PostFacto to install X, as I have read a few articles, especially that X has some problems with SCSI ports during install. (Some users have had to copy install files to a partition then start from there and it works)

I am unsure of how The original X Server works though.

It's Mac OS X 10.1 server (puma or cheetah I believe), not the rhapsody based Mac OS X 1.0 or 1.2 server...

So I did use XpostFacto

It works flawlessly, and it's fast too.. but there's some borked libraries or something.. so a few of the programs don't work...
