My PowerBook 540 is borked and needs to be reloaded. I currently have OS 7.5.3 downloading. I know that it is possible to do an install an install over the network but I am not sure how. I assume I need to make a system floppy, but I am not sure how. Any pointers?

I think I figured it out. I just downloaded the network access start up disk. I will see what happens.

yup... the network boot disk should do you fine... just make sure that the interface is supported, and that the install media is 'situated' right on the server machine...

if I use an image file of the install media (CD) that image will mount as it's own share, and the installer will work.

I did it last night and it worked great. I used the ethernet connection so it was fairly fast. Now just to get OS 7.6.

so now that I know who needs it... I have it! I'll be imaging it soon with my 7300...

if you'll be on AIM today, I can send you the files that way... I can send them almost anyway but eMail...

I can probably even stuff or zip or tar them (if I can find dropstuff/tar/zip)

Cory didn't you say one disk is missing? If one disk is missing it might be hard to do the install unless you know what is supposed to be on that disk. However, if there is a utility to create the tomes they use on installers it might be possible to recreate the missing disk if we could just find out what it has on it.

Any website that lists what files are on what disk?
