After 2 years and 3 days, I officially quit my job at Ghetto Rays Supermarkets... I had turned in my two weeks notice anyhow, and only had 3 days left including today, but...a farmer called me to help bale straw and hay...for $7/hour-more than I woulda got at work...So I skipped work and baled for 8 hours  The issue is: My sister works there too, and the manager got on her case because I wasn't there tonight. My sister said I was baling hay, but the manager just wouldn't hear it..."He's at home, he isn't working at all...and he does this after the good reference I gave his new job?"  yep, I do farm work; I'm a hick from the boonies of Ohio  Artillery Commander/Engineer, 68kMLA

Only $7 an hour? Seems a bit cheap to me. When ever I do it, I'll get 8 or even 10 bucks. One time I got $20 for 1.5 hours. And for about 30minutes we didn't do anything! All we did was like 50 bales, and then threw them in the barn. Easy stuff.So what is your new job? Oh and I don't just do farm work, I live on a farm  ________________

Bailing to go baling. LOL! You might consider apologizing to your old boss at the supermarket and/or offering to work an extra day, fill-in on a night or two, etc (don't argue/defend yourself -- that will only make things worse). Burning bridges is never a good idea -- you never know if you might need a reference from your old boss someday or if someone might check out your former employment record. As tempting as it is to say f***-it to the old job, it creates very bad karma and can lead to later regrets. Just my 0.02, not worth $7/hr or anything.
