I´ve heard PowerBooks, also 190´s does never works with A/UX...

Is this really true? No hack possible?

Because of the hardware indeed impossible?

It's never going to work. The PB190 was designed a couple of years after A/UX, and on top of that, it has a surface mounted, FPUless 68LC040 that cannot be removed without destroying the logic board. On top of that, even if you somehow put a full '040 in it, it would never work due to the fact that the video and the rest of the machine's architecture is not supported.

I disagree. I replaced the CPU in a PowerBook 540C, and I'd just as soon replace it in a 190. Without destroying the logic board.

Yeah, but the CPU in the 500 series PBs is on a seperate, removable daughtercard. The CPU in the 190, however, isn't.

That doesn't make any difference.

Interesting...i could've sworn that you couldn't remove an SMT chip without destroying it and/or the board. I'm probably wrong though.

Not destroying the chip is a bit harder, but keeping the board intact isn't all that difficult.
