I am looking for the Garamond Condensed font. I have font several place that sell it but I was hopeing to find a free version. I also need it for both windows and Mac. From what I can tell this is the font that Apple uses in all of there stuff.

Well, if you want what apple uses (well used to use, they switched to Myriad for most of their stuff). I have a copy of Apple Garmond I picked up off of carracho that I could email you.

I have Apple Garamond for both Mac/PC. I'm not sure about condensed though.

Apple Garamond is the one that I need. I just noticed that you have it on your site. Will that work on a PC as well?

Probably not. Mac and PC TrueType fonts are rather different.

I thought that truetype fonts were completely crossplatform?

was I misguided by every other book I've read on macs?

IIRC I've even swapped truetype fonts with macs and PCs... or seen friends do it...

gawhd... there's a converter for everything isn't there??

I think that some things should just "work" more often than needing to be converted...

hardware adaptors are ok with me... and some file translators I can understand... but there HAS to be standards for this junk right?

Maybe there's a PostScript version?

ohwell... that'd cost UBERMONEY huh?

I tried to put the font on the pc and it did not work. But then again what does work on a pc :) What I did is open the TrueType suitcase and pull the fonts out and copied them to my PC. So I think I did it wrong. I did install it on my Mac though and I must say I love that font. It gives me the warm fuzzies inside.

Well said, Cory. I remember I thought a few years ago that TrueType was cross platform. I got a wh ole bunch of cool fonts off a PC, put them on a floppy disk, and then put the floppy into my PowerBook. The icons appeared, and they even had the system Fonts logo. But, they still didn't work. I needed to use TTConverter to get them to work.

TrueType Fonts are crossplatform. Fonts that work under WXP, work fine under OSX for me.

Interesting. They must've done different in OS X. I still haven't tried transferring fonts from PeeCees to Macs for quite a while now.
