hey everybody! nice to see youguys are all alive and well.
anyway, ive got this very nice powerbook free, from a guy at school. it's a 160, and i have 3 other powerbook 1xx's, that all dont work. see, i kinda break em. so, id like help before i start breaking this one apart, it's probably the last one ill ever have. if i can get it working, i ca hook it up to an external monitor (it's got the plug) and a car power adpter (w000t0z00sw0s0)
ok, so on startup, with a boot floppy im fairly sure is working (ive tried it with a couple different system boot disks) i get sadmac, with 000F/00001. looked these up, says bus error stuff....
sorry, not much experience with this stuff. i think the hd might be busted, because last time i used this powerbook, about a year and a half ago, it worked and booted fine, and was a great work machine. would a broken hd of some sort give me this error? thanks
ive got a coupole spare hard drives, the screws are kinda stirpped on thiis pb, but maybe i could swap a new hd in, but that's last resort, cuz id have to buy an allen wrench

ok, well im not exactly sure the boot disk will work, ive tried about 5 differnet ones, off the internet, but maybe they are for ppc or someting...ok

What boot disks did you try? System 7.5 and 7.6 boot disks work fine. 7.1 disks will too, as long as they have the system enabler you need. Either way, good luck!  --

wowsers. alright, the hd IS broken, i booted from a good boot disk, and no hd pops up....
guess i will have to open the sucker up....sigh, hope i dont break everything

well, i took it apart, installed a working 40mb HD, and it boots up kinda fine....except im running it off the system for a floppy, so i get that error everytime I startup....
AND, I GOT THE CAR POWER ADAPTER!!!! FREE! WOOOOO
is there a good version of aol for 68k? i cant really remember....aol 3.0 doesnt work anymore as far as i know....

Glad to see that everything works! About AOL, however, i believe that 3.0 may have been the last version. Maybe you could get a real ISP and use that?  "**** em" - Jobs in regards to customers
