What would have if you have PB 180c and try to use it with a PB 140 power adapter?. Serious damage?thanks, Editor of the printed word, Ministry of 68k Truths (mini6) ------------------ PowerCD, Mac HD 20, SE, Classic II, IIx, IIvi, PB 170, LC 475, LC 575, Quadra 650, Performa 5200, iMac 333

Well, the HD will start spinning, the screen will light up, and you'll be greeted with the Happy Mac and the Welcome to Mac OS greeting. Really?, I looked in the service manuals for these computers and the 180C had a different replacement number than the 140 power adapters. I assumed they were different.Editor of the printed word, Ministry of 68k Truths (mini6) ------------------ PowerCD, Mac HD 20, SE, Classic II, IIx, IIvi, PB 170, LC 475, LC 575, Quadra 650, Performa 5200, iMac 333 How you like d'em apples?! Do you have the slim PB100 style adapter, or the newer, fatter one? Either way, both will work fine, but the newer, fatter one is more powerful."**** em" - Jobs in regards to customers Warrior maclover5 68kMLA Official 68kMLA Detective Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |

My understanding is that if the plug fits, you can "safely" use it. But, doublecheck the current requirements for the two PBs. If the PB 180 needs more current than the PB 140, then the PB 140 adapter may not provide enough power to both run a PB 180c and charge its batteries. If the imbalance is large enough, you might even find that the batteries keep draining slightly while running on the anemic AC adapter and that if you don't have a good, partially charged battery, you can't run the 180c at all. I know this sounds crazy, but when my 180c still worked, the PB100 adapter powered it fine, without a problem...even when the battery was out!"**** em" - Jobs in regards to customers Warrior maclover5 68kMLA Official 68kMLA Detective Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |
