I just picked up a 16 Mb Ram chip at the local flea market (in fact, I picked up 2 for 2.50 Euros as they were sold as a pair. I also plugged in an old Quantum 1.2 Gb drive. Do I have enough Ram - 20 MB - to adequatedly run OS 8.1? And should I exchange the power supply from an old lc to help the Quantum along? There will also be an Asante ethernet card installed that is now sitting in an old lc. Thanks.

Yeah, it'll run OS 8.1 fine. Matter of fact, for about a year i ran a very similar configuration to yours. And yes, depending on how much juice the HD and ethernet card pull, it may be a good idea to use the original LC power supply. It'll fit and work just fine.
